on

Rachel Nichols, Richard Jefferson and Scottie Pippen react to the news that the Cleveland Cavaliers are hiring John Beilein, formerly of the Michigan Wolverines, as their head coach. They then (1:15) pivot to the Los Angeles Lakers, who have hired Frank Vogel to be the head coach of LeBron James & Co., with Jason Kidd joining as an assistant.

The only people happy for this are those happy to see Lebron not win anymore

I am too, it was Kobe’s retirement let me realize, I’m not a Lakers fan I’m only into Lakers because of Kobe, and now I can’t wait to see their drama escalate. Good coach, bad coach whatever, everyone knows there will be a big drama coming right? Something will get Vogel fired and Kidd will take over, and since Kidd is not a known mister nice, he might do something to make that happen.

Frank Vogel is a great coach. Indiana exceeded expectations each time against Lebron. Danny Granger was always getting hurt and Roy Hibbert was a choke, but Paul George developed into a star and they always brought the best out of the Heat. His failure with the Magic wasn’t his fault either it was ownership & management’s. Magic hired OKC’s assistant GM as general manager and he traded Oladipo to OKC for Ibaka wtf? and then Tobias Harris for Brandon Jennings wtf? That’s why Vogel was pissed off and left.

Emm Jayy…Eggsactly! People listen to the media and repeat what they hear. That’s all you can read in the comment section is repeated media spin. Frank can coach or he wouldn’t have held a job as long as he did

Ty Lue was NOT worth a 5yr deal. He is NOT a great coach. He won a championship on LUCK and because LeBron got Draymond suspended. Let’s face it…LeBron was running that team in Cleveland. Look at what happened to Lue after Lebron left…..They FIRED him. They only kept him around because of LeBron. If he’s such a great coach….why hasn’t any team hired him yet? Simply because they look at his success was becase LeBron was running the team.

Lue won a ring as a player courtesy of Kobe and Shaq. Not because he was a great player. He was a BENCH Player. How does some of these so-called sports commentators get their jobs? WOW!

Lue was most likely over valued, but he’s a decent coach. Was he a great one, heck no. I do think he was better than Blatt though, because coach Blatt couldn’t get Kevin Love involved in the offense, and had him sitting in corners shooting 3s. Ty Lou actually made the big 3 in Cleveland function very well to the point Kevin Love was having big nights along side Kyrie and Lebron. Not even Spolestra was able to get Bosh to be more than a glorified role player. For that alone, Ty Lue gained my respect. However, there were plenty times when watching the Cavs in the finals, I yelled at the TV asking, “where is the movement”? To be honest 80% of the basketball teams run vanilla offenses, because the coaches are afraid to marginalize talent to a system. However, the really good coaches can establish a system that enables, not marginalizes. Growing up being a Lakers fan, I was spoiled by watching the Triangle. Motion offenses of all kinds are always better than just running simple Pick and Roll. Defenses have to work hard to guard 5 instead of 2 moving people, but motion offense also fail on many teams, because they require the players to master the offense or else you’ll have 5 players running into each other, in which case it would be better had they just stood in the corners.

For me you hired Frank Vogel then you then the Lakers tell you that you have to have Jason Kidd on your staff who you think Kidd going to report to? Lakers management so you got a spy on the bench or should I say snitch remember Kidd wanted the HC job when Luke was still the coach don’t be surprised if by the all star break you don’t here whispers but give Vogel 18 months and Kidd will be the HC.
