It looks like it but the league has that zero step/gather step rule so they’ll let things like that go

      March 18, 2022 at 9:47 pm

It’s a ‘gather step’ plus two steps, so no travel.

    • Patrick Morgan

      March 18, 2022 at 9:52 pm

@Mr. TrueCaller in the nba the idea is that the count starts after a player has picked up the ball and securely gathered it when driving. Essentially the first step you saw herro take after picking up the ball didn’t count and that was considered 2 steps.

    3 steps???

    • TheMrTrails

      March 18, 2022 at 10:06 pm

0:03 – Right foot down, hand on side of ball, dribble is still considered alive on this step.
0:04 – Steps with left foot, cups ball. This is considered the “gather step,” which counts officially as “Step 0”
0:05 – Takes 2 steps for the layup. Since the gather step is Step 0, he is allowed both of those steps.
It looks close, because right about as you would consider that he has officially cupped the ball, he actually doesn’t have either of his feet on the ground, but is in the process of already taking the step.
