nba is all about scoring. but in the playoffs its defense and offense.

He has made strides defensively in this short time. He definitely has the talent and tools to be a real contributor and he seems hungry for the opportunity/coachable

Is it just me or are these two the Darius g. And Evan m. Of the summer league

    • Bill Delancey

      July 16, 2023 at 7:42 pm

Just you. They are completely different players. Emoni is like 7 inches taller than garland and Mobley is more of a shooter and scorer than the defensive master Evan Mobley

@Bill Delanceyhe didn’t mean it like that he meant just tearing up the summer league two man the way those two did

Bates is “NBA ready” and gonna have awesome NBA career! He’s the steal of this year’s NBA Draft!!!

Bates ability to hit the wide open three would open the offense up so much on the Cavs roster instead of brick Okoro

    • Austin Bell

      July 16, 2023 at 7:38 pm

      Ibrick Okoro

    • ugo akusoba

      July 16, 2023 at 8:02 pm

That’s true. Okoro would be better off bench taking on 2nd team defenders to make him look better and locking down 2nd team offense best weapon. . cavs got to be start. emoni is the starting forward

    • Austin Bell

      July 16, 2023 at 8:27 pm

Certainly not a day one starter, but would love to see him get work in the rotation.

    • De Armas

      July 16, 2023 at 9:49 pm

Today, right now, Isaac Okoro is a better NBA player than Emoni Bates, and that will likely remain true for a year or two.

Besides, Okoro is in the wrong position. Hes really a 2.

@ugo akusoba It’s funny cause after the first Summer league game ppl said Emoni wasn’t gonna make the roster now he’s a starter? Notice how fast they change up

Bro we need to start Emoni at SF. Love okoro but he’s not that guy – Emoni has such a high ceiling compared to Okoro. Slash/shooting SF is exactly what we need at the position – plus everyone else starting is super young so why not one more

    • De Armas

      July 16, 2023 at 9:48 pm

Bates needs a couple years before hes ready to start

@Joe Nichols oh I have no doubt he will get his opportunities to make mistakes and show what he can do

      July 16, 2023 at 10:39 pm

Yea here is how my rotation is looking so far.
      Pg. Darius garland
      Sg. Donovan Mitchell
      Sf. Emoni Bates
      Pf. Evan Mobley
      C. JA
6th and 7th man: Isaac Okoro and Caris LeVert as spark plugs defensive stoppers type of role since we have a smaller back court, we could bring them in to bring the intensity defensively and also score in a multitude of ways.
8th man Max Strus. Every team needs a shooter like a JJ Redick or a Kyle Korver who when the offense is sluggish could shift momentum with their shooting. Plus he is also a good defender.
9th man George Niang. another shooter who could play in a small ball line up plug him at the 4 with Evan Mobley at the 5 surrounded by shooters.
10th Isaiah Mobley honestly i don’t think J.B will play more than a 9 man rotation so you could switch between George Niang and Isaiah Mobley depending on what is needed that night. If your playing a more smaller team with shooting like the warriors maybe play Niang more where as a taller team like bucks or Lakers play Isaiah Mobley as a back up big to JA and Evan.
      rest of the roster moves:
Damien Jones as a backup reserve if Jarett Allen or Evan Mobley get Injured.
Ricky Rubio in a mentorship role.
and have guys like Craig porter Jr and Sam Merrill available as reserves. As for guys like Diop traverse and Sharif have them continue to develop in the G league or Australian league/Spanish league respectively.

      July 16, 2023 at 10:55 pm

@Joseph reed I’m not gonna add anything to that. That’s exactly right and I think the front office sees that as well

You don’t go from #1 player in your class to trash within 2-3 yrs, barring a major injury. Emoni had talent of these other top guys..he just didn’t have cleanest path. I’m stunned he lasted til 2nd rd

LeBron James delivered in the clutch in Game 3.

With the game on the line, LeBron drilled a clutch three to send it to overtime, completely shifting the momentum and setting the tone late for the Los Angeles Lakers against the Houston Rockets.

He finished with 29 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists, knocking down 4 three-pointers in a vintage all-around performance. Rui Hachimura added 22 points, while Alperen Şengün led Houston with 33 points and 16 rebounds.
