Jordan was robbed in 1985 versus Dominique though, so everything was evened out in ’88.

The only contest that can rival that one was the Levine/Gordon dunk contest a couple years ago… it was pretty insane. This was the greatest tho and Vince has the single best in my opinion..

So it came down to the final 3 dunks. First I would give to MJ 47 to 45. Second attempt I would give Wilkins 50 to 47 and their attempt to MJ 50 to 47.

I think that next year’s slam dunk should have Zion Williamson and LeBron James. So the junk that I think that should be done should consists of both of them One takes off. And then the other one jumps it. But before you see it, the light comes off so LeBron takes off and in midair Zion Williamson finishes the dunk And the lights come back on.

So let me get this straight, Jordan got a 50 for a free throw line dunk, Clyde does a free throw line dunk after Jordan and gets a 45. Then Jordan misses and then repeats a free throw line dunk and gets another 50?

    Dominique was Robbed!

    • Sam Treharne

      February 15, 2020 at 8:40 pm

@Tovey Chow I know it well enough to know that you don’t repeat a dunk you’ve already made in a dunk contest. Do you know basketball?

    • Leoni Days

      February 15, 2020 at 8:49 pm

I never knew he repeated it so that’s lame but to be fair, MJ has some real flair. I’ve never seen any other player do a better free throw dunk than MJ. Everyone else usually step way inside the line or stretch out the entire time to barely reach the rim. MJ glides, lifts his legs back, pulls the ball back before finally extending and dunking. It just harder and visually better.

Dominique being robbed is definitely a valid discussion… but don’t try and compare MJ’s and Drexler’s free throw line dunks and pretend they were the same or should’ve gotten the same score – that’s absurd. Drexler’s had no flair or artistry at all – it looked boring. Jordan had grace and flair in the air – cocked the ball back by his head, kicked his legs. It looked completely different, and a million times better than Drexler’s.

@Michael L My point was more that Jordan repeated the dunk and still got a 50 but I see your point

Honest question – I just watched another video of this dunk contest 10 minutes ago – rewind by SB Nation – and neither that video nor this one shows arguably Jordan’s best dunk from this contest: (@ 2:15). Legitimate question – does anyone have any clues as to why this dunk is never shown in ANY videos about this dunk contest?

Even videos that do a complete walk through of the contest, showing basically every single dunk by MJ and Dominique – they show every dunk EXCEPT this one. Every. Single. Time. To the point I think I’m losing my mind and it wasn’t actually in the 88 dunk contest. But it was. It’s so bizarre that it’s left out of every single video that I feel like it has to mean something. It was his best dunk, so you’d think it would be included in every single video. The fact that it’s included in 0% of them – literally 0% of them – sticks out like a sore thumb. It’s incomprehensible.
