On the final day of the season, Denver had a pivotal game against the Spurs, where if they won, they secured the third seed and consequently a series against the Wolves, but if they’d lost, they would’ve dropped to the 4th seed and gotten matched up against Houston. Denver chose to win and take the match up against the Wolves because they thought Wolves+Spurs was an easier path than having to face OKC in the second round, which they would’ve done if they had lost on the final day, dropped to 4th and won the series against the Rockets. So Chris Finch is saying the Nuggets believed the Wolves path was an easier choice, which is why they had to work hard to prove them wrong. Hope this helps!
