I think it’s dumb how they still select all stars as east and west when the game isn’t that way anymore, there are so many guards in the west that are being snubbed because of this

How is Beal not a lock on the reserves?
    PPG 27.7 (#5 NBA), APG 4.7, RPG 6.5
Even with Beal’s slumping 3PT shooting this season (probably as the focus of all the defenses he faces), still only LaVine and Young have a better EF% among the guards mentioned.
Among the guards mentioned, Young, Simmons, Brogdon, Walker, and Lowry have better APG… but Beal isn’t even a point guard.
Among the guards mentioned, Simmons, Brogdon, and Lavine have better RB%.
Among the guards mentioned, Young, Walker, and Simmons have a higher EFF.
Among the guards mentioned, Young, Simmons, LaVine, and Lowry have more SPG.
Among the guards mentioned, only Young and Walker have a higher PER.
Among the guards mentioned, only Young and Walker have a higher OffRtg.
    Etc. etc.
So yes, Young, Simmons, clearly deserve it, as does Walker (significantly for team success), but after that?
Beal was a one man show on a talent-depleted team picked to be awful (one of, if not the, worst in the league), that was then decimated by injuries to its young & bench-level starters, and yet his team, although definitely bad, hasn’t been truly awful. They’re just as many games out of the playoffs, 5, as 4 other teams in the East, including LaVine’s Bulls… and are that many games ahead of Trae Young’s Hawks.
Is some really suggesting that 27.7 / 4.7 / 6.5 doesn’t qualify as an All-Star reserve in the East?

The allstar game is about individual skill… not team stats. Zach’s been playing amazing all year.

Last year, Kemba was an all star starter. It was in Charlotte last year and was having a career year. I see the same in Lavine, but not an all star starter. He’ll for sure be an all star this year

Lowkey players worthy of being an all-star (EAST):
    Lavine
    Brown
    Dinwiddie
    Brogdon
    Tatum
    Adebayo
    Sabonis
    Vucevic

The Hawks have a better team than the Mavs and are in the East but lipsy McCunt can’t win games with them. He puts up empty stats yet he will start the All-Star game? Disgusting.
