What makes Jordan so loved is that he brought 6 championships to the city of Chicago. Who else who played for any of the four major sports teams in Chicago can say that? Just like Kobe is so beloved in LA, because he brought the city of LA 5 championships. Players in the past cared about their city almost as much as their team, and took pride in that.
