  39. GrizzlyX

    February 25, 2021 at 1:20 pm

Once again Poeltl doing Jakob things. Spurs fans asking for him to start over LaMarcus are idiots. He got embarrassed all night and on the last play Patty Mills (THE WORST Spurs Defender) didn’t trust him 1 on 1 vs Al Horford driving to the rim and blew his own assingment??
    “excellent” rim protector my a**.

    • D C

      February 25, 2021 at 6:31 pm

Aldridge is a center and rebounds like a 5’5 guard! His defense is bad and if you only like him to sit back and shoot from the outside, wouldn’t it be better to put guard there instead of him? Poeltl took a gamble on the last play and they payed for it. Still, he provides much better defense and a whole lot of rim protection. Gotta take the good with the bad. Spurs are a guard loaded team, so he fits better.

    • GrizzlyX

      February 25, 2021 at 7:28 pm

@D C “much better” is a gross exaggeration. And no, it wouldn’t be better because LaMarcus shoots better than most of the guards on the roster (3 point line excluded but that can be debated also). And because he can still drive to the basket with strength. But by no means am I calling LMA an elite defender. He rebounds just fine. There is only so many rebounds to be had in a game. And if you have a handful of guards who rebound really well on your team, that leaves less for the big men but honestly who cares? It’s not like they killed on the boards when LaMarcus is on the floor. And Jakob is not some world beater.. He got 9 boards to LMA’s 7 with more minutes.

Jakob is complete offensive liability, way more of a liability than what LaMarcus is on defense. His free throws are atrocious. His rim protection is laughable lately, sure he blocks some shots but he gets exposed on a nightly basis by anyone who is slightly athletic with decent touch. And yes he gambled on the last play (WHY??!!) but that wasn’t the point of emphasis. He was put in the torture chamber all night.
Bottom line he is overpaid and doesn’t deserve to start.

Spurs played good considering they was missing 6 players but there no excuse at the end you can’t have an open man w 3 seconds left
