I’m so sick of this 4 guard lineup. This setup only works if 3PT shooting is on point even vs. the Mavs w/o Kyrie and Flagg, the Spurs struggled in the 1st half
It’s so easy to counter this 4 guard lineup when they aren’t hitting 3s, just pack the paint, and they can’t slash or drive inside at all

yeah its kind of bad when Tobias harris is out and we don’t have a lot of options but at the same time last year we ran vassell and champagnie which is interesting to your point because maybe what helped that lineup work so much was the 3pt volume we got from those two guys.
i think you make valid points but i also trust Coach Johnsons judgement, i’m intrigued to see what he does when Harris comes back if he opts to experiment with a new lineup or if he keeps this same one going.

Dallas never got on track in this game. Their largest lead was a six point lead. In contrast San Antonio led by as many as twenty-three points.

MAVS PERSPECTIVE:
1. Heart breaker
2. Kyrie and Cooper out
3. DE Lerrea. A star in the making. We saw it in the summer, we saw it in pre season. He barely played last game. Unacceptable.
4. Sasser is playing more off ball when Sergio Delerrea is in the game. Therefore, the chemistry is better.
5. Risacher looked amazing 2 games in a row. He needs more touches!
6. Two good games by Gafford. He plays better against post player. Miles turner and Wemby. But against those 3 point shooters, whose primary goal is to shoot 3, hes been struggling. We’ll need a different lineup against teams like Atlanta, OKC.
7. Still no Aldama yet.
8. Morez looked a bit better
9. I still cant believe Lawal is only getting cleanup minutes. He makes explosive plays everytime hes on the floor. He needs some first and third quarter minutes before the intensity picks up near halftime and 4th quarter.
10. Sasser is a much better scorer than what i thought. He plays well with kyrie. Playing with Delerrea was better today than other games.
11. Naji Marshall is amazing, but still bringing the ball up the floor in half court offense. Theyre pressing him. He’s had the ball stolen several times this season and preseason. They need to stop doing that. Its giving away free points. Eventually, it may make him doubt his ball handling. Getting the ball stolen 1 on 1 in the back court is embarrassing. Let someone else start the offense. Naji is a great SCORER.
12. Competitve game, it just fell apart in the 4th. The full team will be able to finish a game like this. But looking good so far.

As a Heat and Spurs fan, my teams are not doing well in the opening season😢, but atleast Spurs is getting back on their feet, but Heat is still hard to watch, but still positive because we got a long season ahead of us💪

Tarris Reed Jr. makes his NBA debut and is immediately instrumental in the Spurs getting an 11-0 run in the 4th quarter to clutch out a game that should not have been close. I hope Coach Johnson was actually watching.
