The refs literally gave that game to Chicago. Harper shot late…that was a shot clock violation. Jordan should have been called for a charge on Stockton instead of Stockton getting a blocking foul.

Michael Jordan puts it up, Chicago with the lead! And the Chicago Bulls have won their 6th NBA Championship Title!

It wasn’t his last shot. He played with the Wizards, remember… 🙄

When they won the game to get Bulls their 6th championship and complete the 2nd 3-peat it was considered Jordan’s last shot because he did retire after 1998 Finals.

But of course this is his last shot as a Bulls because he came back with Wizards. Most people will say this is his last shot because his legacy will be with Bulls and their two dynasties in 1990s.

I appreciate Michael Jordan as one of the GOAT’s, but the GOAT retired in 1969.

Jordan totally set up Russell on the last sequence. When he scored the layup with 41 seconds to play, he went hard right to the basket. The next play after the steal (another chess play, stayed behind on the pass through and caught Malone off guard), he went hard right again and Russell went for the bait. Because he went hard right to the basket on the play before, he thought that he’d go hard right to the basket again but he pulled up left while Russell went flying almost 10 feet away to the right. Jordan has always been a chess player on the court while everyone else was playing checkers. He knew how to win the game within the game.

Jordan is the goat I’m just still baffled at the jazz defense on the last shot. Why didn’t they double him or at least not give everyone so much space to work with

    • @ThisIsWEB

      June 14, 2025 at 9:05 pm

Because they doubled him in the finals the year prior, and Steve Kerr hit an open 3 to secure the win. They refused to repeat history, so MJ made new history.

so wait lemme get this straight when SGA pushes off they wanna whine and complain that it should be a offence foul but when MJ does the same shh hes the GOAT and hes the best to ever do it ?? this double standard is crazy work they just wanna hate on SGA

So chilling that Jordan’s longtime coach (Doug Collins) and longtime nemesis (Isiah Thomas) were on the call for this one. It brings it all full circle for Michael. Ghosts of his past witnessing his final act.

there’s an iconic photo of this game where MJ taking the game winning shot and the clock is at 6.6 seconds. that’s 6 for 6 championships and 6 for 6 Finals MVP.

Another fun fact: MJ started the 12-game Finals series with the Jazz with a game winning shot in Game 1 of 97 Finals and ended with a game winning shot in Game 6 of 98 Finals.

Watching this game is still stressful to this day, 27 years later. Michael was exhausted in the fourth quarter, and Scottie was practically out of the game, with only Toni Kukoc contributing 15 points and all the others in single figures or nothing. Utah was at home, far healthier, and it had more rebounds and assists and led most of the time in the game. It’s incredible that MJ managed to pull it off in the end. He had to score 45 for the Bulls to win 87-86. The last minute is basketball’s masterpiece.

The best 41.9 seconds of basketball ever played. Be the best player on the floor on both ends of the ball for the title. Being more clutch than that simply doesn’t exist.
