Jerry Logo has gone on record many times that he wants the NBA to change the logo. The biggest reason is that the NBA pays Jerry West ZERO money for the licensing to use his image. How does the NBA get away with it? Easy. The NBA has never officially acknowledged that the logo is Jerry West. This goes all the way back to the early 80s.

If the NBA changed the logo to Kobe, they absolutely would not be able to get away with doing it for free like they did with Jerry West

It’s absolutely criminal that the NBA used Jerry West for their logo and didn’t pay him by never saying it was him…..even though EVERYONE knew it was him

They should rotate the logo each year for the best of the best who have contributed throughout league history. One year Kobe’s logo, another Jordan’s Logo, another Kareem, Magic, Bird, Shaq, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Dr. J., when he retires Lebron, etc. Too many great players that have made an impact for this league and that will make an impact in the future.

I’m throw out this idea the NBA should change the logo every five to ten years to resemble any one who has won the mvp.

On top of all that, who else better to represent the new GLOBAL NBA than a man who spoke multiple languages and was loved around the world? It makes too much sense to make him the new logo.

Sure, let’s rebrand the league based on a tragedy and be reminded of the 9 people that died every time we see the logo πŸ‘.

    Terrible idea.

The logo is fine as is. They can find another way to honor Kobe.

To the people who don’t understand why it’s wanted, yes it’s a recency bias bc he just died. But it’s more so about how he died, he died die at 70 to a heart attack. He didn’t OD, it was truly random. Most of the time when a legend would die there’s an idea before it happens that it’s on the way, whether it be age or habits. Also his daughter being with him brings emotion from a different perspective for some. It may be a little far but if West supports it then why not further cement his legacy. He deserves it

Kobe should not be the new NBA logo…… Ppl are just saying this cuz he died. I’m not trying to offend anybody but I didn’t hear much, again I say much about changing it to Kobe… I heard about changing it to The Jordan Logo, that made sense and still makes sense. Michael Jordan is the Goat, Kobe has said and many other basketball players have said it. Change it to the Jordan logo cuz it should have been the Jordan logo for awhile now and I bet Kobe looking down on that wouldn’t hate on that decision cuz Jordan inspired Kobe’s game so much. Jordan was a mentor to Kobe. That’s all I have to say.

Relax. He’s going to get a statue outside of Staples and he already had both numbers retired.
Quit being a prisoner of the moment.
If the NBA were ever to change the logo it would obviously be Jordan. It’s not even a debate.

    With all respect for Kobe
Logo needs to remain the same
That Logo is Well recognizes around all the world
In my opinion it Will be better if NBA rename some award in honor of Kobe Bryant

Even Kobe would think that is silly. He respects the history of the game too much and that logo, with his beloved Jerry West, is part of that history. I can just see Kobe’s face going “Huwhaat?!?”. None of that sht matters to him. He’d be more happy if players played their butts off in the All Star game moving forward.

I would want to keep Jerry West as logo, you wanna honor the past. How about the MVP award? isn’t it like the Kia mvp award?

if there’s someone who’s deserving to be the logo it’s Michael Jordan, but there’s no need to change the NBA logo, it’s fine it should stay as it is, instead NBA should name the NBA ALL STAR game MVP Award the Kobe Bryant award in honor of him

Omg stop trying to make everything about Kobe people! It sucks he died, big fan of basketball, stop signing petitions for the logo to change!!! Don’t you think he would want it the way as it is? When 2pac died it didn’t become 2pac records from death row records, stop crying about every little thing and lets move on. Problem with today is, everybody wants to modernize everything. So if Michael Jordan was murdered wouldn’t you want the greatest player of all time in that logo? Everybody is just in the hype and I already ready to move on. Some things should be left alone and so glad they are ignoring this. It would be a slap in the face to players trying to win a championship when it is now gonna be geared towards Lakers to win it. Let the game be pure and what it is about. A death should not change the game, let them wear they’re own logo or something that the players wanna wear and they can choose to wear something or not. Leave it alone!

Stand in league’s shoes I believe it’s a hard decision. There are many players who inspire lots of people and being influenced in sports. What if after KOBE there is someone who is being well or outstanding in every side then change LOGO again for him? So I believe it’s a hard decision.
