It’s funny how everyone here praises JT for his defensive efforts although he was underperforming by a lot if you people are treating him as an MVP candidate…
I bet that if that was Bron or Luka instead of JT playing like this, the media would bash them for 2 weeks straight… I bet the Celtics would’ve got to the finals without JT without a problem, but I can’t bet the same for Mavs without Luka…

I ain’t hearing it Curry was tripled and doubled in the 2022 Finals and still produced efficiently offensively against the Celtics, don’t move the goal post for Tatum.

Tatum ain’t a elite scorer. And people are in denial of it. As a Tatum fan I feel like he’s regressed as a scorer late in this season. He’s easier to scout for than any other superstar in the league in the playoffs. Now it’s coming to light.

I’m a Cs fan and I agree. Also IT faced some ridiculous quadruple teams in the playoffs and had a 50 piece. Tatum’s a great player but it’s reasonable to say he’s a tier 2 star like Paul pierce, Vince Carter, Detlef schrempf, etc. this could change and he could suddenly go psycho but idk

I wish dudes would stop saying he’s constantly getting doubled and triple teamed. He’s not otherwise why in the hell is he taking the most shots on the team. They send early help on his drives because he ends up with mismatches on him. Only time Dallas doubled was on his post ups. Dallas knows he’s going contested 3 pter or hard drive even on mismatches. So they are already ready to send help or let him shoot a jumper. HE’S 34% ON ALL JUMPSHOTS IN PLAYOFFS. 29% from 3 in playoffs. Also Tatum’s overall shot diet is trash and predictable and he doesn’t have that KD, Booker, Kawhi level accuracy in his in between game (31% on pull ups). No floater game (34% from non RA paint att in playoffs) Not comfortable in midrange (37% from midrange in playoffs). Tatum is nothing special as a scorer in the playoffs unless his jumper is dropping at respectable clip. Which hasn’t been the case.

He’s been missing shots that guys like Luka and SGA make under the same pressure. Tatum’s not a elite scorer. I just gave the numbers. More a all around guy. He’s a star player the shots are gonna be tough every night. If he wants to take 22 shots it’s on him to be at a level where he can make them. However luckily Boston doesn’t need that. Just not cool with the narrative that he’s the only guy on BOS getting attention or that he’s CONSTANTLY double or even tripled.
