Kristaps Porzingis finished with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks as the Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks, 107-89, in Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals Presented by YouTube TV to take a 1-0 series lead.

Kristaps Porzingis scored 18 points in the first half of Game 1 of the NBA Finals after having not played in both the Conf. Semifinals and Conf. Finals. It is the most points by a player in Game 1 of The Finals after having missed the previous two rounds since the league transitioned to a 16-team format in 1984.

Previously, the most points by a player who fit these qualifiers was 7 points, by Andre Iguodala (GSW v BOS on June 2, 2022).

    Man Celtics with healthy KP too much fire power Dallas needs big adjustments for game 2. KP got the freshest leg out of all the starting 5 and it’s showing. Man Boston getting so lucky this year they faced injured teams so didn’t need KP and he got so much rest got healthy just on time for the Celtics.
