It’s tough to figure out who to guard on the Miami Heat, because on any given night they have four or five players that can get hot. Robinson can get hot, Butler can get hot, Kowry can get hot, Bam can get hot and Tyler Herro can also get hot. Butler is their best scorer but he’s surrounded by a lot of good role players that can have big nights.

PJ Tucker, Gabe, and Strus also has a big night at some point this season. It’s really a Russian roulette going against the Heat. Not only that, the Heat has an incredible defensive set that teams need to worry about on the other end too.

Duncan needs to improve his 1on1 defense. He shouldn’t rely much on the help defense

Totally agree.. I worry that this might be a reason they could possibly let him go. They paying him tooo much while Strus shoots just as good and has better defense.

He’s gotten way better as the years gone by, if you’ve watched the heat the past years then you can’t complain tbh. He’s lengthy so it’s a lose/win situation with him since he’s always getting calls called on him too often.

I don’t think there’s room for improvement on his defense. It’s been 3 years working with Butler now and I haven’t seen any improvement on his part. His slow feet, skinny physique, and defensive IQ will always hold him back. He reached his defensive ceiling with Bam on the floor and a lot worse without Bam and Tucker helping him. He just needs to get consistent on his shots because he’s too streaky for a championship contender team right now and he almost always gets nervous when playing against much better teams which is going to be detrimental in the playoffs.

Blazers fan since 2015, I remember watching dame and cj being one of the best backcourts, I hope the pelicans go to the playoffs and blazers try getting better players around dame
