@@IceSlipmaybe it was always legal but I’ve played center my whole life and was always taught jump off two. Anytime I’ve accidentally done a “step-thru” in game ball went going the other way. if HS rules were as lenient as NBA I would’ve been the best 6’3 center ever😂. It’s a bailout because if you can make a layup or floater the defense has to respect your pump fake and then you can just take an extra step leaping towards the basket as to where jumping off two you can’t get that much momentum going forward.

I would say… the kid had multiple chances to score.. all the dribbles wasn’t necessary… he’s a dope player but the difference in his next level is make a move then take what’s given .. he has a jumper a couple times… the idea of get the defender into recovery is lost

If your a true defender you can see some issues with what he did. First he gave him too much space on the perimeter, unless the guy cant shoot. Even when buddy got inside the 3 point line and drove knotty never got close and bodied up. Lastly he didnt stay solid or stay down and use his length.

He let the offense slowly inch toward the basket. Then gave up an easy bucket.
On defense , you have to contest a jump shot , or force an unbalanced shot.
He did neither.
