   Hank makes a great point that Sorokin’s struggles over the past two years have been a byproduct of defensive injuries to Pelech, Pulock, and co. Both are having a Renaissance season. Schafer has really helped Pulck find his old form.

     He should have said that Ilya hasn’t had a backup. Varlamov has been hurt for two-plus years.

     @cowetascore8476 Yes, there’s also Lambert and Roy overplaying him. The new goalie coach that he knows personally may have contributed to Ilya being a top 5 goalie again.
     Teams like the Oilers and Devils have been searching for good solid postseason goalie seemingly forever.
