The Magic defeated the Hornets, 123–107. Franz Wagner led Orlando with 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Paolo Banchero nearly notched a triple-double with 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists. Rookie Anthony Black added 20 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals in the win.

For Charlotte, Collin Sexton scored 19 points and dished out 4 assists, while LaMelo Ball contributed 17 points and 13 assists. Ball now has 51 assists through the first five games of the season, surpassing Muggsy Bogues’ franchise record of 50 assists in the first five games of the 1993–94 season.

With the victory, the Magic improve to 2–4 on the year, while the Hornets drop to 2–3.

    Much better defense tonight Orlando, the team held the Hornets to an average of 27 points per quarter, a big difference from the last game against Detroit where the team gave up an average of 33 points per quarter. Keep up the defense and let’s get to only allowing no more than 25 points per quarter
