1988: The last dunk was not a 50. It was literally the same dunk done before but they had to do that because it was in Chicago and Dominique got robbed there

McClung’s dunks were so overrated. There were nice, but were NOT worth 50 points. Anyone from the stands doing those same dunks would NOT have received 50s. It’s time to get rid of the judges because they really don’t know how to impartially score dunks. They focus too much on crowd reaction to the dunks, which, a lot of the time, comes mainly from liking the player versus the dunk. Everyone WANTED to see the little, white guy win the dunk contest, so, the judges obliged by giving him a bunch of 50s for dunks that we’ve seen before. They crowned him the Messiah who revived the dunk contest, but in reality, the guy doesn’t even start on a team and will be forgotten about by Monday morning. Let’s see him connect on one, just ONE of those dunks with Giannis in front of him…or KD…or Embiid…my point exactly. The dunk contest needs to be more interactive. Let fans have some say, not all, but SOME say in the scoring and what types of dunks they’d like to see. Players should have to select from the dunks that the fans want them to replicate to a certain degree in order to earn points. The dunk contest needs more FAN interactivity if it’s ever going to be worth watching again. Mac McClung did NOT save the dunk contest; he jus highlighted what’s seriously wrong with it.

I think Zack lavine ruined everything… I think. He made those crazy dunks look do effortless now we take it for granted when other do them. Gordon …man that 1v1 with lavine not sure it can be beaten.
Now Vincinity was a great dunker in games, like crazy dunker we were all sold out already when he did the contest. But to tell the truth in terms of innovation and sick sick dunk Gordon – lavine. McClung too with the double pump dunk…π€―

It just looks so much more special when a smaller guy does it. Its pleasing to the eye cuz your brain is telling you that shouldn’t even be possible. Mac looked incredible because of this, what a vertical, what body control! Nailed them first try to, makes it even more bad ass.
