Like I said from the beginning of this season, Jazz will start off blazing hot and end without any gas left. This same situation happened last season. On the bright side, at least Lauri will get MIP award. Will he?

Shai is probably getting MIP, not that it matters.

@Erroneous Monk Every evidence suggests otherwise, but good try.

All the national media guys that talk about it have mentioned him the most. But they do acknowledge some of the other guys in the list. Some came on too late. Some were already really good to begin with, like Shai.

@Ben Ellison Evidence? Markannen changed teams and his stats went up. He was very impressive this season, but he could not carry his team to the playoffs, even after having such a hot start. They just fell apart.
Shai dragged his team up from a terrible start to the play-in position. Shai was already a high-level player and went up even another notch. That shouldn’t count against him. His FG% went up by 6% to over 51%. His scoring increased by 7 pts a game. His FT attempts per game went up by 50% and his FT % went up by 10% to over 90%. He got BY FAR the most attention, defended by 3 or 4 players on every drive. He was a top 5 scorer while averaging only 3.5 3pt shots per game, even while his % went up by 4 points. He found his biggest weakness and eliminated it. His turnovers fell while his usage rose. He became a MUCH better defender. He went from 8th on the Thunder in defense win-shares to 1st, jumping from .07 to .1.
9th in the leagues in steals+blocks, first guard on the list. He plays on a team that everyone mocks for being bad but they’re in the playoffs because of him. He leads the league in 30+ point games and has been available all season. I think he’s a top 5 MVP and the MIP doesn’t concern me at all. But don’t act like there’s no evidence to support his claim. That’s ludicrous.

For sure but we play in the crazy competitive west, and our main 7-8 guys in rotation are incredibly young. I mean there are literal rookies and sophomores all over this squad. I know we damn sure ain’t gonna do much in the playoffs against a top seed IF we end up making the play in, but I’d love for these guys to get some playoff experience this early in their careers.

Looks like Poku is a non-walking leg injury. I think he is a bust. I sure hope this label doesn’t stick to Chet or it could hurt the Thunder for years.
