This 76ers defense could be as good as the mid-2000s Pistons – Brian Windhorst | The Jump

Published

on

Rachel Nichols, Brian Windhorst and Tracy McGrady react to the Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers game, in which the Sixers struggled to shoot despite getting the win. They also talk about the defense that Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris and Al Horford will play, with Windhorst comparing it to the mid-2000s Detroit Pistons and 2008 Boston Celtics.

We have a thing called Al Horford and Mike Scott coming off the bench, we’re well equipped for stretch fours.

This team is perfectly built for half court playoff basketball that’s when they’re going to be even scarier! Everybody except Simmons will hit perimeter shooting last night they were off and still one by double digits that should tell you something you have two new starters it’s going to take time to gel

I hate it when people gas up a good team.

Their defense isn’t going to be as good as Brian or any sixer fan thinks. All I see in their squad is some individuals who are very good defenders but the team as a whole? Nah.

How can he even compare them to the mid ’00s pistons when the best two players on the team are not even great defenders?

The pistons defense back then that great? they beat a fractured shaq and kobe, and injured malone. And what else did they do? NOTHING one and done!

This “who can shoot” narrative is such nonsense. These national punditoids need to STFU already and do their homework. 3 of the 5 starters for the 76ers are above league average 3 point shooters in their careers.

Tracy is a hater . Sixers we’ll be fine they do need one more piece of the bench. But Al horford stretches the floor and Richardson shoots from the outside better than Butler. So R E L A X. JJ Reddick was a horrible Defensive player and 1 year older can’t be that good.

Tmac still hurt from the 3-1 comeback from the Pistons.

ha 76ers will be good but embiid and simmons would have to actually play hard and smart for 48 minutes to really be elite. they have way too many lapses. still good but watch how many effort or mental breakdowns those two have

JJ Reddick was a defensive liability
