Why did the NBA just seem more Real back then? Like the Presentation, the level of play and everything. Today’s game feels a little more dull and gimmicky

Its funny how people bring up casuals, they seem like the casuals in most cases. Or they say you haven’t been watching basketball very long. Probably someone born after 1990. Lol

I’ll never forget this game. I was pretty young, but I believe this is the first moment when I realized just who tf KD truly was: a superstar. See that Big 3 take down the legendary Spurs made me think OKC was going to become the next kings of the west.

Such a shame that core never played another game again after Game 5 of The Finals

Spurs fan here. Respect for OKC. They face each other three times in playoffs. Love to see Spurs give respect to their opponent after being eliminated. Good for them. ❤

2011 to 2013 Spurs was the choked artist that time. Those season were the Spurs always on the top in the standing in the west or leading wins in the playoffs but always getting kick out because the choke cursed strike again. Their 2014 season was masterpiece

Imagine this team battling with the Warriors for the West every year. KD and Westbrook just 23, Harden 22. They would have been in their prime by the time Steph and Warriors began their rise

What if KD beat the warriors 4-1 2016 advancing to the finals to face off kyrie and LeBron resulting in a 4-1 sweep keeping kd on the thunder. Keeping kyrie on the cavs with LeBron causing Cavs to go on a 3 peat until kyrie leaves

It’s surreal that a team with Harden/Westbrook/Durant couldn’t win it all.

  31. @lvkh25_8

2012 team was special, and it was how they got to the finals that year

2012 OKC team was led by a 23 year old KD and Russ, with their 22yr old 6th man in James Harden and a 22yr old DPOY candidate in Serge Ibaka and for them to be that good collectively at their ages is almost unheard of

Yes they got to the finals and lost to a more complete Miami Heat team that was led by a near peak Lebron James but the games leading up to that was the reason that team is hugely remembered for me, and the biggest what ifs in NBA history.

They first played the defending champions with Dirk and actually swept them 4-0 in such a dominant fashion, and each game that series had one of the big 3 of OKC initially take turns just dismantling Dallas and it was a huge win considering they had lost to Dallas in the WCF the previous postseason and Dallas went on to become the eventual NBA champs that year.

The next round they had to face The legendary Black Mamba and Zen master Phil Jackson and essentially cake walked LA going 4-1 and won in five games, weirdly enough OKC had lost to LA back in 2010 in the open round in 6 games to you guessed it the eventual champions that year LA.

The WCF was something straight out of a movie, OKC had to go up against that dynasty Spurs and their vets, it was a battle of the opposites, one team older and favoring winning team basketball while the other relying solely on talent and sheer athleticism. OKC had lost the first two games in San Antonio then won 4 straight against San Antonio, essentially it was a turning point in game 5 and it showcased an almost eerie changing of the guard and pecking order of power in the western conference when OKC after being down the first two games came back and won one in San Antonio. Just so many legendary performances for OKC in that series, KD and Russ were as usual their selves in Harden at 22yrs hit dagger in game 5 to give the Thunder a 3-2 lead and in one of the games 3 or 4 Serge Ibaka had a game where he had a perfect field goal game of 12 plus shots hit all his mid range shots up against a legend Tim Duncan (it’s a game that doesn’t get talked about enough) but the performances from that core 4 of that OKC squad that year was the stuff of legends, a team with its core players being 23 and under leading them through a gauntlet of legendary teams to get to the finals was just unheard of.

What’s crazy is the fact they thought the game was over with 6 pts lead and 13.4 seconds left. In today’s NBA, that lead is not guaranteed and both teams are locked in AF.
