You really believe this same Lakers team that had the best records in the league in the 2nd half of the season is going to the play-in ?? Lol I can guarantee you the Chip is going West again and this time it will be between Lakers, Warriors, Mavs or Suns.

    Dear NBA:

I believe the disrespect directed at the WNBA and the talents of the female players could be resolved indefinitely by combining the All-Star games of both leagues into one game formatted as women vs men.

Not only would this create exposure for the female players to the NBA fanbase as a whole, it would also showcase the talents of the women (or lack thereof if that truly is the case), and it would rejuvenate the deteriorating all-star weekend that, let’s face it, hasn’t been the same since the greatest season in history: 2015-16.

Adam Silver is constantly looking for unexpected innovations to create headlines and raise the entertainment value of the league. This is one low-risk move that could see a major upturn in ratings if it is a successful change. If it failed to achieve the intended result, it could simply be abolished in years to come. Women are technically allowed to play in the NBA, and some have even been drafted in the past, this could prove that they are in fact capable of competing with their male counterparts.

Either way, the all-star weekend needs to be reformatted in some way. Tradition is fine, but what worked in the 1940’s may lose interest after almost eight decades, and that’s what we’ve been seeing from the all-star weekend the past ten years or so. Perhaps a 1v1 tournament with the “Allen Iverson 1v1 trophy” as a prize, and more of a streetball feel to the competition, while still being played in a safe and fair manner, would be another effective change.

I will continue to support the NBA, as it is my passion in life, and I aspire to work within the league in some capacity during my time on this Earth. Thank you for putting out a product that I have enjoyed for years, and hopefully will continue to enjoy for years to come.

Sincerely, Tim Robinson; diehard Raptors fan

P.S. The implemented rule changes that resulted in lower scoring averages worked as planned but were reverted when the players complained. However, it made for great basketball with an old-school feel. Please consider tightening up those rules again for next season.
