Stephon Castle put together a performance for the history books, erupting for a career-high 40 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists, and 3 steals while shooting an incredible 15-for-19 from the field.

Castle becomes just the second player in Spurs franchise history, joining David Robinson, to record a 40-point triple-double. At 21 years, 96 days old, he is now the third-youngest player in NBA history to accomplish the feat, trailing only LeBron James and Luka Dončić.

Castle also joins Wilt Chamberlain as the only players ever to post a 40-point triple-double on 75% shooting or better. It marks Castle’s first career 40-point game and second career triple-double — a truly special night in San Antonio.

what was that they were saying last year about the 2024 rookie class being a bust?? People write off players way too quick based off of 1 year in college…

This is why the Spurs said Castle and Harper were untouchable. They’re building for the future rather than desperately chasing a title this year. They’re way ahead of schedule. No need to be impatient or worried.

San Antonio will win multiple chips in the Wemby era. Unbelievable front office and team

I know they want him to “need” a jumpshot but he really doesn’t need one since Wemby can shoot. Obviously it helps but I’d like to see him add layers this game the way Ant Edwards did.

His handle is average could be better, he needs to develop moves and counter moves as well. Right now he’s just being stronger and more athletic.

I’d like for him to improve his midrange shot profile. This guy can be so good it’s kind of scary. He’s like Shaedon Sharpe actually almost exactly like him except one guy really wants to shoot and the other really wants to get downhill 😭
