This was a bad trade for both parties but at the beginning of the season I thought everything would run through Russ and everyone would play off of him, especially in the regular season. That’s because Lebron & AD can play off of Russ better than Russ can off of them.

But lebron has Kareem’s record in his sights … no way he’s playing of anyone.

I ain’t putting the ball in Westbrook’s hands when I have Lebron.

When’s the last time in a Lebron team, that everything didn’t run through Bron?

The mistake was getting Westbrook to begin with.

You dude. It’s you that argued this. “Other People”?? SA, you’ve been railing on this for months.

I hope Vogel gets fired. He’s too good a coach to be saddled with this mess of a franchise. Release him and let him take the reigns of a real TEAM. Stick a Lebron picked figurehead/enabler into that role.

      March 10, 2022 at 12:41 pm

Vogel too good a coach?? Ty Lue has the Clippers winning games without Kawaii or PG… A good coach takes the pieces he has to work with and makes it work

    • Trenton Pearson

      March 10, 2022 at 1:04 pm

Vogel is a decent coach who specializes in defense with length. The roster doesn’t fit with his personnel. But he is not a great coach who has the ability to work with anything like a Ty Lue or a Popovich.

    • gorobot

      March 10, 2022 at 1:32 pm

@Trenton Pearson 100% that’s what i mean. I don’t think Vogel is a coaching god, but he’s a good coach. He was stuck with this old, stubborn roster, he shouldnt be saddled with a situation he had no control of. No coach is going to succeed with a roster that completely turns over every year. Even if this team starts winning, no one will credit him with it.

    • gorobot

      March 10, 2022 at 1:34 pm

@Popeye Cervantes Ty lue isn’t coaching a roster that completely turns over every year, full of guys past their prime who literally don’t want to play as a team. I’m not saying Vogel is great but you need Phil Jackson to get this team to work.

This roster couldn’t guard on paper, and it can’t guard on the court. That’s the biggest reason they suck. Rob fumbled.

      March 10, 2022 at 3:16 pm

Lebron fumbled too. He wanted Westbrook AND Melo.

NO DEFENSE!! What is the coach supposed to do?
None of these guys, can guard a couch. And a couch can’t move!

Houston showed us that Westbrook can play alongside another superstar aslong as he has floorspacing when he’s on the court.

SAS is right, but we also have to realize that if Frank Vogel gave Westbrook operative lineups, and a solidified role as either the PG, or slasher when Lebron and AD are off the court(or on it), so he doesn’t have to shoot jumpshots, he wouldn’t be taking so many of them. I rarely see plays called for Westbrook this year, I also rarely see the paint open for Westbrook to drive. Something Houston was able to accomplish, and Washington with less shooters (outside of B.B) was able to accomplish.

I also saw in the beginning of the games prior to this Lakers season, Westbrook holding the ball at the top of the key running plays for the offense, which I think cut down on his turnovers for the rest of the game, and allowed him to get more warmed up to his teammates over the course of a season & game. Westbrook still hardly knows where his players are going to be on the court, which he is ultimately to blame because he’s a 33 year old veteran point guard, however with that being said it’s also Frank Vogel’s fault for literally having 30+ starting lineups over this season, and not giving anybody a consistent rotation outside of Lebron, Westbrook is an inconsistent player on an inconsistent system. Once Houston later on in the season after the trade deadline had consistency in terms of Westbrook’s role & the teams role. We then saw Westbrook have consistency, same with Washington, once we saw the injuries go away and roles and lineups fully established consistently…We then saw Westbrook be able to preform, more consistently. Westbrook, Lebron and Frank Vogel have even said…Roles have been changing every night. The media has been saying…One of the biggest laker problems is consistency. Expecting an inconsistent high volume player to thrive in an inconsistent, low volume role was the first thing wrong with this season.

The Lakers have 0 consistency, Frank Vogel at this point still hasn’t figured out a starting 5 which isn’t totally his fault…Because again, injuries however at this point the blame being placed on Westbrook is getting out of hand. Literally the same efficiencies across the board with the lowest number of turnovers in his career (I believe).

He’s doing what he’s always done at an inconsistent and less volume, because he has a inconsistent coach, players, rotation AND FRONT OFFICE aswell as an inconsistent role on the team. The pattern is…The more consistent all the pieces are around Westbrook, the more consistent he can preform.

Man… I wish we could go back to 2020 when the Lakers were the best team in the league. Say what you want about their bubble championship, but man was that a fun team to watch

It doesn’t matter what line up he do if you best players are not playing Defense Lebron just wants to score to catch Kareem Westbrook wants Triple Doubles AD stays in Street clothes

Even the dumbest basketball fan knows that Westbrook’s a bad virus. Just like Harden and Kyrie. Headaches everywhere they go.

I’m so sick of the narrative that this is Rob Palinka’s roster. When we all know that is was Lebron who stopped the Buddy Hield trade in favor of getting Russ. Oh and let’s not forget Lebron saying he wants “the same energy” from the people who first said that Lebron and Russ can’t play together.
