Lock the bottom 10 teams who are in the lottery at the all star break. Then after the break, those 10 teams in contention for the lottery picks, whoever wins the most games from that point until the end of the seasons gets the better picks.

Interesting idea. Could that encourage early season tanking?

All you have to do is change two things. All rookies should be allowed to sign two year deals so they can move on if a team isn’t trying to improve as free agents. The other is, no team can be in the top 15 picks for more than 5 yrs running, and if they’re top ten for those 5 yrs, then they must not be any higher than 20 for two straight years. No matter what the league does, they find ways to cheat. With these two changes, they’d be punished for not outing forth a better product, and tanking would still exsist, but it would become a fearful thing for many teams.

i disagree with the David. Pretty much the owners will TAMPER at an INSANE high. They will buy there rookies. And or the Rookies will only go to florida or LA watch.

Please get rid of David Dennis jr. good lord I hate to be so disrespectful but EVERY time he comes on he gives takes that just make nooo sense. It’s like he doesn’t even know what he’s saying he’s just thinking what’s the most crazy outrageous take that I came come up with to get people talking but his thoughts contain little to no logic. Anyone remember when Ryan Hollins used to be on the show? Talk about basketball IQ of a plum. Like what are we doing here? They just be allowing anyone to come and speak their mind and it’s crazy. Really not a fan of this and anytime I see this guy on I’m just skipping to the next video.

Rookies would all pick Miami, L.A., or New York. Think a rookie will pick Sacramento? Or Milwaukee? Doesn’t matter how good San Antonio is–the players want to party. Sorry, that’s reality.

That guy is payed to be on TV??? He should be in a mental hospital. Only in America….
I have no problem with tanking. The better teams will rise to the top, meet in the playoffs, play 4 rounds of best of 7 series and we get a deserving champion.
Do you think I’ll care if the Kings or Jazz, or Wizards won 5-6more games because they tried harder?

Ace Bailey just told them guys in Utah that he didn’t wanna play for them. I think Reaves did the same thing cause he wanted to play in LA.

Just do the draft like how the nfl does it based on standings whoever is the worst should get the first pick

  12. @lazzi2462

    February 12, 2026 at 3:36 pm

That would be so dumb, dude is definitely just looking to go viral off saying dumb stuff. Might as well get rid of all the bad teams & make it a 10-team league, because having those bad teams around would be pointless if they can’t even get any players lmao. To fix tanking, maybe make the 10 worst teams all have the same odds of getting the #1 pick. That way tanking pretty much becomes pointless, because it’s way less guaranteed to get a good pick, it’ll be too big of a gamble to waste a season. Then the remaining 4 lottery teams still have a very slim chance at the #1 pick, like how they already do.

Or if that’s too extreme, then instead make the 7 worst teams have the same odds at getting the #1 pick, & then the odds drop off smaller & smaller for the rest of the lottery teams like it does right now.

    • @rob.parsnips

      February 12, 2026 at 5:32 pm

Flattening the odds is makes more teams tank, not fewer.

    • @lazzi2462

      February 12, 2026 at 5:43 pm

@rob.parsnips Not really, because the odds are so bad, it would be a big gamble. Having the worst record, there would be a good chance that you will only get the 10th pick instead of the 1st pick. No team would want to waste a year tanking just to get the 10th pick, that would be horrible. Teams tank right now because if you’re one of the worst teams, your odds are much better.

Rookies choosing where they want to sign is not a good option in replacing the draft.

    • @staytruealways207

      February 12, 2026 at 5:09 pm

If you limit it to where you can only choose from the weaker teams then it’s not a bad idea but if you’re allowed to go to any team you wanted championship contending or not then yea that’s an absolute horrible idea

  18. @claytonkresser2187

    February 12, 2026 at 4:30 pm

Hmmmm ESPN been crickets when San Antonio and OKC did it was crickets.

  19. @staytruealways207

    February 12, 2026 at 5:03 pm

I’ve had this idea in my head for a while and with all these ideas to maintain the competitive spirit of the league why not have a losers tournament where you fight for the first 5 seeds in the draft. Instead of that useless “mid season” tournament being for a championship that means absolutely nothing how bout you make it about the Draft. That way if you have a team that is somewhat competitive you won’t sit your best players or trade them all away. And your regular season record has to be at certain level to even qualify

  20. @rob.parsnips

    February 12, 2026 at 5:18 pm

Abolish the draft, abolish contract limits, impose a hard salary cap. Teams recruit players directly. Good teams have expensive players. Bad teams can afford to offer bigger contracts to free agents, whether they’re veterans or rookies.

A solution to the TANKING problem in the NBA
To ESPN, slightly, Nick, Isaac, or just about anyone who thinks this might be a good idea and wants to share it
There really is the best possible opportunity to stop tanking by exploiting this one opportunity:
I propose that the NBA uses the upcoming super league that is being planned by Adam silver (in making a tournament where qualified teams from the NBA and qualified teams from Europe and possibly across the globe come together to compete for one true world championship) to introduce penalties for tanking that every single NBA team will have fear just as much as the dreaded 3rd Apron.

The possible international tournament –which I’ll call NBA super league or NBA SL for short from now on– is a competition that will be a bit similar to the European soccer champions league. So I suggest that it should likewise give the qualified teams substancial financial packages just for initial qualification and then for every subsequent advancement in the tournament.
This first step has brought NBA team owners to the table of negotiation.
The solution to tanking please bear with me and read what is written below:
You might be wondering how this affects tanking teams?
    – Simple, any NBA team that enters the top 6 of the lottery will be banned from competing in this international competition for TWO YEARS and hence will not be able to receive said financial packages.
    – If the same NBA team finishes in the the top 6 of the lottery the next consecutive year, they will be banned for 3years with the countdown refreshed and starting from the most recent lottery win.
    – And if the same team still ends up in the top 6 for another consecutive year, they will be banned for 5years.

Of course there will be situations like Chicago, where you have a team battered with mediocrity and in a play-in situation every year, for those teams the law should have some form of exception or flexibility to pardon them.

(just want to add this here: the NBA cup can be an international tournament key card for these mediocre teams)

However, I understand that with this, it is not close to enough since winning the NBA after getting the best draft picks just might be more attractive than great financial packages to certain owners.
That is why I propose an additional solution, you know, the seasoning on top the Chow mein:

Since certain NBA teams will be eligible(qualified) to compete in European tournaments (top 10 in each conference), this will consequently require the players to play much more games in every season.

Because of this, every team will either have to overwork players which could cause several injuries or over-rotate players which could cause them to lose games. To avoid these situations, a good solution is to give the QUALIFYING(QUALIFIED for the international tournament) NBA teams extra roster spots. so instead of 15-man roster, each team has for example a 17- man roster. This helps immensely because, whether or not each team uses the entirety of their 17 man roster, these team’s wage cap will increase enough to fit a 17-man roster. With this, the teams that actually try will be better able to attract the better players with higher salary offerings, and also able to keep their own players by offering better extensions. This creates a situation where players only wish to go to these better teams at some point in their career.
Of course, such solutions might not test the sands of time, but I believe, that the only and probably the best opportunity for years to come will be this international competition that Mr. Adam Silver has been working on.

Doing away with the draft completely is just dumb lol, yeah okay you wanna talk about the second apron yada yada yada, it would just create an unfair advantage once again to teams in small markets. In this day and age with everyone wanting to be seen and promoting their brand, they’re definitely not going to Utah, Memphis, Indiana, Charlotte just to name a few places
