They say Simmons deserve the award more. But Gobert is literally guarding smaller guards and he is 7 feet tall, his also top 1 in almost all defensive categories in the NBA this season.

He does so much more than block shots…. He changes ppls mind when they want to drive to the rim and if they do he always contests the shot and make it as difficult as possible

people have to understand that this is based on regular season. respect to simmons and green, they are great one on one defenders but Gobert is the defense of the Utah Jazz. jazz defense can put alot of pressure on the perimeter knowing that gobert is inside to intimidate or block any player that goes inside the paint.

Tobias got robbed of an All Star game, Embiid got robbed of an MVP & now…….. Ben Simmons is officially The Grim Reaper of the Philadelphia 76ers

Rudy has elite level recovery and patience for a big man. He rarely falls for the pump-fake, and when he does, he recovers instantly and still blocks the shot. Just like last night.

so for those NBA casuals that thinks he doesn’t deserve this award coz he cant guard the perimeter. prime dwight howard and dikembe mutombo also won it 3 times, they cant defend the perimeter but they can block or intimidate players going inside the paint. they dont deserve it too? smh

Ben simmons was only in the conversation because of voters fatigue. Hes a top 3 candidate but Rudy should have been the favorite all year

only complaint–golbert swats the ball out of bounds too often.. bill russell would just tap the ball to a teammate to ignite a fast break.

In a world of flying centers, running everywhere on court and scoring 3pt shots like point guards, the “old school” way of playing basket from Rudy (priority to defense, blocks and dunks) won some credit year after year.

    June 10, 2021 at 5:00 pm

In a game that is mostly played on the perimeter a center wins DPOY. Instead of Ben Simmons who actually guards the best players on the other team.

      June 10, 2021 at 6:24 pm

“Mostly played on the perimeter” lmao you dumb dumb

Is it true he as only 2 all star games selections? And yet 3 DPOY?

    June 10, 2021 at 6:31 pm

Remember the good old days of 4.7bpg and 1.9spg wasn’t good enough to get you DPOY! Now 40 steals and 190 blocks gets it for you no problem SMH

  48. Dark Knight

    June 10, 2021 at 6:45 pm

I’ve seen a guy record 376 blocks in one season and not get DPOY but this guy has 3?!

    June 10, 2021 at 8:31 pm

He is not just “tall” ..his timing to start the block is crazy. Rudy “not in my house” Gobert
