LeBron wore #6 when he won his first championship during the 66th NBA season, that was 66 games lockout. He will be 3 peating and getting 6th ring to be 6-6 in finals. NBA is scripted.

So this is the “physical” era that today’s players can’t handle?

What a joke. All I see are touch fouls, wide open jump shots, hardly any contested shots, terrible transition defense, overall slower athletes, dudes dribbling with only their right hand.

Call today’s NBA players soft all you want but they would have an absolute FIELD DAY against these scrubs.

Always heard about this game – it was pretty meh. The 76ers were useless, and it was ugly bball all the way. The 20202 Kings would own this league – it just shows how far things have come. I though Magic would dominate but it’s a “average” 42/10/5 game. I get he’s a rookie but it’s not lk he dominated lk MJ, or Kobe or anhyone else, even Bird. He wasnt amazing at anything. Magic is overrated is the only conclusion i can draw.

You can see why Magic is an all-time great in this game. He obviously has amazing skill, but you can see him lead his teammates as well. Even in the wordless interactions between plays. And in the interview, he’s so jovial and full of relaxed confidence. You can kind of contrast that with the interview segment with Dr. J. The Doctor seems on edge and a bit peeved, like he knows what’s coming. Magic seems like a young kid who knows it’s his birthday and he has a mountain of presents to unwrap. He’s not some guy trying to market his brand as “Magic,” you can see he was Magic Johnson from the very beginning.

  52. Leptonaut

    May 18, 2020 at 3:27 am

1:19:30 The announcers’ hyperbole and hype is off the charts. Musburger says Cooper “may be convulsing” just because he twitches once and then they say that Dawkins came down on Cooper “with his full weight,” and so on. Jabbering on about smelling salts and such. But if you look at the replay, it’s clear Dawkins went right over him and only caught him a little with his legs. These guys are desperate to find an angle to turn this already exciting game into some bloody cage match. Just call the fucking game.

ESPN NBA Top 10, first title:

    10. Shaq – year 8
    9. Kobe – year 4
    8. Duncan – year 2
    7. Bird – year 2
    6. Wilt – year 8
    5. Magic – year 1
    4. Russell – year 1
    3. Kareem – year 2
    2. LeBron – year 9
    1. Jordan – year 7

Now, there are many criteria for GOAT, but you can see that generally these all-time greats were champions right out of the gate. I think LeBron barely deserves to be in the top ten frankly, and he’s there because of NBA marketing and hype. Also, Jordan is not the GOAT. That’s also Nike and league hype to push a product. Jordan is indisputably an all-time great, but no one has ever dominated any sport at all levels as completely and as totally as Kareem. No one.

My top ten looks like this:

    10. LeBron – year 9
    9. Shaq – year 8
    8. Duncan – year 2
    7. Bird – year 2
    6. Wilt – year 8
    5. Kobe – year 4
    4. Jordan – year 7
    3. Magic – year 1
    2. Russell – year 1
    1. Kareem – year 2

Just think, this was the NBA when players wore short-shorts and gold chains in games. And when players weren’t just shooting from the 3pt line! In fact, I don’t recall a single 3pt attempt in this game. Ok. there was at least two, both by the ’76ers.
