     You don’t know the rules. First, the defender steps into his landing area (a foul to avoid serious foot/ankle/leg/achilles injuries), next, he steps on Brunson’s toes, and finally, he kicks Brunson in the shin. 3 fouls total (possible flagrant).

     The defender has to give the shooter room to land. Brunson naturally jumps forward on his shot. So as a defender you have to account for that.
