I dislike this idea of a play-in tournament. Why can’t they just use the same old top eight seeds as usual? They only have this play-in tournament because of Covid, right?

for me play-in should only be implemented when the win/lose of 7th, 8th, and 9th seed are not far from each other, i say only have 1 or 2 games ahead or behind. but a 10th seed team that is 4 games behind the 8th seed shouldn’t have a chance at a playoff spot

The NBA should reward the team that ultimately earns the 7th and 8th spots, the highest chances for the first pick in the draft. Every team will be fighting for 9th place atleast instead of tanking. The higher seeds won’t tank a chance of missing the playoffs to drop below the 6th seed. Every team would compete then.

I am a little disappointed in the Lakers. They should not have been playing bad enough this season to not make the top six. I do not even like this idea of a play-in anyway. Stick to the old system.

The Celtics don’t have Jaylen Brown but Bradley Beal for the Wizards is dealing with a hamstring injury. Both teams have a disadvantage right now.

The tree charts as super confusing. I still can figure out what happen to the loser of each game. Is it sudden death elimination.

for the ‘7th and 8th seed’ teams, the winner will be the 7th seed in the playoffs. That means if the 8th seed team wins, the 8th seed team compete in the 7th seed position. The same with the 7th seed team.

The loser of that match-up still has another chance, by beating the 9/10 match-up and acquiring the 8th seed place in the playoffs. If the 9/10 teams want to play in the playoffs, they have to win two times in a row, in the 9/10 (losers go home) and then against the loser of 7/8 (again, losers go home)

(7th vs 8th) & (9th vs 10th), both 1 game only, 7th and 9th gets homecourt advantage. winner of (7th vs 8th) gets 7th playoff spot and winner of (9th vs 10th) gets to play loser of (7th vs 8th). loser of (7th vs 8th) have twice-to-beat advantage vs winner of (9th vs 10th), means loser of (7th vs 8th) only has to win 1 game, while winner of (9th vs 10th) has to beat them twice. winner will get 8th playoff spot.

ps. ofcourse loser of (9th vs 10th) cannot continue anymore

      hope this help

    Play in tournament is disrespecting

    • First Last

      May 18, 2021 at 10:45 pm

not necessarily. if you’re the 7th and you’re win/lose is 3 games ahead of the 8th or 9th, it is kinda disrepectful. but if W/L of 7th, 8th or 9th only have 1 or 2 games ahead/behind, play-in makes sense. a team in 10th seed with 4 games behind the 8th seed and still having a chance for playoff spot is sure disrespecting. but again, for me if their win/lose is not that far from each other, play-in makes sense ✌

7th vs 8th & 9th vs 10th, both 1 game only, 7th and 9th gets homecourt advantage. winner of 7th vs 8th gets 7th playoff spot and winner of 9th vs 10th gets to play loser of 7th vs 8th. loser of 7th vs 8th have twice-to-beat advantage vs winner of 9th vs 10th, means loser of 7th vs 8th only has to win 1 game, while winner of 9th vs 10th has to beat them twice. winner will get 8th playoff spot.

    • First Last

      May 19, 2021 at 1:23 am

@Google ACunt then they can go to playoffs as 8th seed. just beat the winner of spurs vs griz and not lose to them 2 in a row

    • arifbobnp

      May 19, 2021 at 4:42 am

@First Last got it. but it’s predy unfair that 7th and 8th have to contend again for their spot for 7th and 8th..

    • First Last

      May 19, 2021 at 6:21 am

@arifbobnp enter my opinion on play-in tournament:

personally , i think the play-in is fair specially if 7th, 8th and 9th seed have the same win lose or atleast have only 1 or 2 games ahead/behind difference.

but, yeah its pretty unfair and disrescpectful if a 10th seed who is 4 games behind 8th seed has a chance to get in to playoffs.

they should revision the tournament mechanics and who should qualify. if 7th and 8th seed’s win/lose record is 3 wins ahead of 9th seed, there shouldn’t be a play-in tournament.
