Big Shot Bob, definitely….but also Big Shot Brian. Hits this 3 to tie, plus his tying 3 in the 00 WCFs.

Ahhh I remember watching this game. At that time, that was the biggest comeback win in NBA history.

this was the era i grew up on and loved but ppl who point to this as a higher version of the game than today just don’t really understand what they are watching

      January 8, 2025 at 3:26 am

This was a higher version because they actually played defense and didn’t jack up 3s non stop. If you can’t see the nuance of why this is better, then you need to learn more about basketball outside NBA 2k

this is probably equivelant to a 35-40 point comeback in todays game. it was an absolute shock how lakers came back and won!!

Dirk had a reputation for having upset losses until 2011. He couldn’t win w/ the trio of himself, Nash, and Finley, lost in the first round in 2004 w/ the addition of Antawn Jamison and Antoine Walker (a superteam no one mentions), blew a 2-0 lead against the Heat in the Finals in 2006, and lost in the 1st Round against the Warriors in 2007.

He just about rewrote his own destiny w/ the 2011 postseason run. To be fair to Dirk, he stepped it up in the playoffs most of the time. However, it’s interesting how his other shortcomings were made up for by one great season.

timely shots, strategic moves in every posession, getting to the right position burning the clock and most importantly execution, this is how basketball is played.

nowadays, its just jacking up a lot of shots from 3 without recognizing the shot clock hoping it will go in.

I remember watching this live. We changed the channel after the 3rd for like 5 minutes then decided to flip back real fast just to see what the score was and we caught the rest of the game. Truly memorable. I miss this era of NBA so much. You watch this then you watch the NBA of today and scratch your head at how far it has fallen
