The Brooklyn Nets steal Game 1 on the road vs. the Philadelphia 76ers of the 2019 Eastern Conference playoffs, 111-102. D’Angelo Russell’s NBA playoff debut resulted in a 26-point performance, leading the Nets to their first postseason win since 2014-15. Jimmy Butler finished with a playoff career-high of 36 points, while Joel Embiid scored 22 points on a modest 5-of-15 shooting with 15 rebounds. (4:13) Embiid and teammate Amir Johnson, who was inactive for Game 1, appear to be toggling through Johnson’s cellphone midway through the 4th quarter.

Before the season, everybody focused on Celtics and Sixers, and just naively slept on the others

Nets got a shot at winning this series if Simmons doesn’t show up like he did when he no showed yesterday and the Celtics series.

simmons embidd the bench harris butler inability to make a 3 will hurt them when jj is off or not making 4-5 a night….simmons isn’t making any embidd butler and harris combined can make maybe 3-5 a night 4 at best usually and when jj makes say 1-2 thats about 5-6 a night and the bench is good for about 2-3 so about 8-9 which is below average and not good enough anymore….and thats on a night where they make them…if they make 8 but took 28 thats a really bad night

So Embiid and Simmons are basically a slightly better version of Towns and Wiggins? Practice is going to be interesting. ?

she also was at her best..it was weird..she was excited about the nets which was great but she was very sloppy with the 76ers….

DUDE it’s been like 3/4 of this year and NOBODY has figured out how to guard DLO once he puts his initial defender on his hip. Big man steps up on him, he goes around. Big man stays home after the switch on a pick n roll, he hits the midrange jumper with DEADLY accuracy. And if you try to help from the outside, he’s gotten a lot better at finding his teammates for open threes. If Brooklyn can keep effectively running the pick n roll, they might pull off an upset in 6 games. That’d be amazing to see. Also… where is Ben Simmons in this game?? He looked just disengaged and passive on offense. Sixers also need to get the ball inside more to Joel and pick up fouls on Davis and Allen. If they can do that, it’ll be easy money on their pick n roll opportunities where Simmons is arguably most valuable. I guess we will see.

he reminds me of rookie/ early 2nd year d wade a little bit…hes so confident in his drives dribbling in and outs step backs and mid range pull up game and he just uses screens and his dribbles so well but where wade was very extra with his dribbling and moves d lo just calmly moves as little as possible and wastes less energy with all that fancy stuff and just sorta cooly puts it in and doesnt do any thing extra that can hurt him…wade was a better scorer but d lot is a better 3 point shooter…hes never going to be d wade but its just a nice comp for this game….he had a very d wade like performance

the way russell in that 2nd half and dimwiddie and lavert played the whole game I dont think the 76ers are better..in todays nba your guards abilities to play one on one matter a lot more than bigs forwards or wings and ben cant shoot jj is only a shooter so when hes off from 3 and not cutting hes horrible on d and useless handling and decoy wise and tj and jonathan just aren’t on that level at all their more like a 4th guard on a title team not a 3rd and neither shoots the 3 ….compared the nets trio of guards who today were reminding me of the bad boy pistons unguardable trio from 88-90 of dumars zeke and microwave …they were that special today….thats how the bad boys beat bird magic and mj..their frontcourt and bench were good but their guards were special…no other team had 3 guards who legit could score 20 a night if need be and some nights 25…
