In the NBA, when a player gathers the ball after throwing it ahead, they can choose their pivot foot without committing a travel violation. The pivot foot is established once the player stops with both feet on the ground, and they can then choose which foot to make their pivot foot by lifting the other one. The key is that the ball must be out of their hands before they lift the pivot foot to start a dribble..

Why did the NBA start allowing the step through? As a hooper playing since the mid 90’s it is so hard to watch the game these days. The guy literally picks up his dribble then pivots back and forth for 10 seconds THEN TAKES AN ADDITIONAL STEP. That is a travel! Please stop this nonsense

A lot of people I see get clammed up when they catch the ball and their defender happens to be too close. I don’t see to many people bumping off their defender to create space and hit the fade. It’s the most affective way besides going under their arm when they put their hands up after you pump fake
