Let’s be real it doesn’t make that much of an impact unless they physically act on their words off the court the way that us regular people do by protesting in the streets and actually working towards change. Putting Black Lives Matter on the bubble court and kneeling during the national anthem didn’t do anything productive.

      January 18, 2021 at 4:04 pm

Yep, they’re just trying to fit in. I guarantee they payed the players to kneel. Luka and Kawhi for example we still don’t know their sides on this.

The Guaranteed Minimum Income was MLK’s advocacy before he was assassinated. Andrew Yang is now carrying that mantle and running with that vision. Now, Martin Luther King III is the co-chair for Andrew Yang’s mayoral campaign. #YangforNY
UBI is what we need to #movehumanityforward

@Von Doromal charity should never be forced. I don’t want to work hard to finance the lifestyle of a lazy and incompetent person

    • Von Doromal

      January 18, 2021 at 6:07 pm

@Tora Chan it’s not charity when everyone is getting it. I hope you are familiar with Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. UBI is the lifting up of society. UBI is investment into communities devastated by automation and bad trades by corporation. UBI stimulates job creation and entrepreneurship. UBI improves mental health. UBI transforms US from the mindset of scarcity to a mindset of Abundance. UBI removes means testing with “Social Safety Net”.

Quick question: what would you do with an extra, let’s say, $1,000 a month? I am sure you will not be lazy. I am sure you will provide for your family the way you need to. I have faith in you to do the best for yourself and your family. UBI is the way we help ourselves to be our brother’s keeper.
Faith in people and faith in humanity!!!

Please go though the whole interview.

@Von Doromal this countries welfare system is more than generous not to mention were over 20 trillion in debt. Stop invoking MLK to push your communist agenda.

    • Von Doromal

      January 18, 2021 at 6:38 pm

@jesse fay Read MLK’s last book “Chaos or Community” before you begin to call me a communist. McCarthyism is dead. All about pragmatism. We must do better for ourselves and our community.
After reading the book “Chaos or Community” you might want to call MLK a communist…

The welfare system is designed to keep US poor and dependent.
My opinion: we should abolish it and give everyone UBI.

    • jesse fay

      January 18, 2021 at 6:47 pm

@Von Doromalabolish welfare and give UBI instead? They’d call you racist most likely. Would well off white people get 1k a month while a single woman of color got the same amount? I’m no fan of exchanging our bloated welfare system with a bloated UBI one. Welfare should already be slashed but they’ll cry racism.

    • Tora Chan

      January 18, 2021 at 5:42 pm

@Daimon Mario Perez what’s “the real message”? That America is racist and bad, as told to us be millionaire black athletes?

  11. Tora Chan

    January 18, 2021 at 4:26 pm

Athletes can “make an impact with their platforms” as long as it’s the social acceptable ones.

Look at what happened to Drew Brees. Athletes are only allowed to parrot the “America bad, America racist” sentiment or you get silenced.

    Stop it.

2:37 it’s a shame when this picture is brought up, they never mention Peter Norman. An Australian who got second place and lost his career for supporting racial equality.

@Art Vandelay Thank you, too, for educating me. Just gut-wrenching to learn about this, but also hopeful to see such sacrificing solidarity. Though it was after Norman’s time, I’m glad to see Australia acknowledge their mistake.
