The rule is that you cant jump into the defender to try and get the foul but if you go straight up or away and they still make contact then it is a foul

The NBA made it so that if an offensive player initiated the contact whether is is kicking the leg out or jumping into the defender, it will be an offensive foul but if the defender makes contact then it is a foul. In this case, the defender jumped into Jimmy so it is a defensive foul.

The change they implemented was that they can’t jump towards the defender. The defender jumped on him and Jimmy went straight up.
