Donovan Mitchell on playoff adversity, advice from Dwyane Wade and James Harden | The Jump

Published

on

Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell sits down with The Jump’s Rachel Nichols to discuss being in the playoffs and using last years’ experience in the postseason as a stepping stone for this season, now having to fight back against the Houston Rockets in the first round of the Western Conference NBA Playoffs. Mitchell details the advice he has been given from Dwyane Wade, Chris Paul and James Harden throughout his second year in the NBA. He describes what it has meant to help a college student with her tuition and getting a young fan of his to come to see him play. Mitchell stresses how important it was for him to support Russell Westbrook after his incident with a Utah fan and how he appreciates Kyle Korver for his article he wrote in the Player’s Tribune. He adds his thoughts on the state of Utah naming a bridge after him that also has a mural of him on it.

he is not doing anything wrong, he is a great young player. the jazz with him have a bright future. his team will continue to get better as both he and his team gets better.
it takes time to learn and grow and get better. he has been amazing leading a team in such an amazingly difficult conference and facing one of it’s hardest teams twice. his stats don’t matter right now, right now he just needs to keep learning and improving.
and the jazz definitely need to build around him. because they will go the way he goes.
