Cooper’s shot also was not falling, but was snaking the pick and roll, seemed very comfortable in the role, and his passing was AMAZING this game, would easily have 10 assists if the shots were hitting. He hit the right read every time. Lobs, skip passes, and in transition he quickly did the hit aheads and got easy offense. He got to the rim, finished sometimes (i think his FINISHING needs more polishing, needs to go off one and add a bit more naunce) and scored over the top. Doing his work in the midpost area, he hit some mid ranges, which he’s been doing since high school. Never turned the ball over at all, even against pressure (he was blizted starting the game). Was a secure handler as a 6’9 PG the entire game, staying solid, and i liked how he ATTEMPED more shots off the dribble from 3 than he usually does. This part should branch out more as he gets more experience. Needs to add more moves to his package, tries to go off two feet and pivot a lot. His handle was solid though, had nice crossovers. I liked his process as a scorer, really tried to shoot more jumpers from all over the floor, with more volume than he did at duke. As a defender, he was good as usual, had moments of secondary rim protection, switching, and getting steals by picking people’s pocket, and moved his feet. As a whole though, i think he should just play on the outside instead of trying to post up as much as he did. It’s more effective if he starts outside.
