The Clippers players are doing too much standing around and “spectating” when their shots go up! They are too slow to get back on defense as a result. In response, the Raptors are doing a quick release and beating them down the court for layups! Some of the Clippers were also guilty of going after unobtainable rebounds, which is totally wasted effort and removes them from a defensive formation! Nic Batum was one of the guilty ones. At 7:40 he was spectating a shot, didn’t move back on defense when it missed, took his time getting back down the court, and ran for the corner at the other end of the floor, completely removed from the defense formation and then OUT OF BOUNDS!!!! That is NOT smart basketball!!!!! Ty should have called a timeout immediately and told them to stop doing that! This is also very poor coaching on Ty’s part for letting this ridiculous play go on unchallenged.

Normal Powell 24ppg the top scorer and best perimeter shooter was out vs the raptors. When I saw the injury report I said it would an L against an improving raptors team. THe clippers are 15th in the NBA in 3 point shooting(35.9%) with Powell(44% on 8 attempts/game). Without Powell, the teams 3 point shooting is bottom 3 in the league, the defensive strategy is obvious. If I am the raptors coach I pack the defense in to prevent inside scoring and let them shoot the 3. Lots of help defense in the lane area when defense is not extended. You cannot win in the NBA without 3 point shooting because spacing collapses. The clippers 3 point shooting was true to form as they shot 32% from 3 for the game and that is just what they average excluding powells shooting. Maybe the best defense was powell out with injury. As far as Kawi, he is on a minutes restriction(28) for a reason and is just about done with his “training camp”. He looks like he is about at 75% to me.

Interesting, everytime the Clippers visit Toronto, Kawhi always play, given that he’s notoriously known for load management. 😂 maybe because the timing of his availability or maybe he just adore playing in Toronto, because of the 2019 championship.
