I met this guy in prison. We were cellmates, and even though it didn’t seem like it at first, I ended up learning a lot from him. I owe him more than I expected-during those stretches of volunteer work to reduce our sentences, he taught me Latin, logic, ancient history, and even some art. A big part of what l’ve achieved today is thanks to him.
The only thing that still weighs on me from that time is not being there for him when he needed it most.
There were difficult moments when others took advantage of his vulnerability, and I didn’t know how to help. It’s something that still crosses my mind.
Even so, all of that is in the past now. I’m glad to see you’ve moved forward, left that chapter behind, and rebuilt your life. Seeing you here now, continuing on your path, brings me peace. Hold on to the good and let the rest go.
