This guy is a bucket getter, there’s no doubt about his scoring ability. Question is, can he produce on other aspects besides scoring, like passing, defending, and playing off the ball.

HE was 17 at Memphis dealing with an injury and playing out of position…. HE averaged 20 ppg on 42%, younger than most freshman, in his soph season w/ eastern Michigan with the D focused on him and only him every game.

Before these 2 years, he averaged 30+ PPG on 55% shooting. In NBA SL, he averaged 17+ppg on 45+% and 42% from 3… I dont get why people say he is an inefficient volume shooter. Playing with other talent, more spacing and a quicker tempo will make Bates unguardable by the time he is 22….maybe sooner. He is 19 now and had the best SL out of all the top picks from this year and last year…much more efficient than Brandon Miller.
