    Best part is most modern players don’t even want to take these wild buzzer beater Hail Marys since modern contracts are so heavily parsed on stats, making players reluctant to lower their season FG% with desperation shots. So they’ll usually release the ball after the buzzer on purpose, just so they can tell the fans they tried. But it doesn’t count as a shot, so it doesn’t hurt their stats when they miss.

    I wonder if that was why he was shaking his head after, thinking, “dang it, i shoulda played it legit that time.”
