Jaden Ivey may have to come off the bench unless he has developed into a knockdown shooter

@@jerryalexander8803 I didn’t say anything about Ron Holland. Still…Tobias Harris and Simone Fontecchio will likely start, leaving one back court position open for either Jaden Ivey, Ausar Thompson, Ron Holland, Tim Hardaway Jr or Malik Beasley

      July 26, 2024 at 11:22 pm

@@jerryalexander8803 the Pistons will do anything they can to put a competitive product around Cade. That takes precedent over Jaden’s development in year 3. Ausar and Ron aren’t “back court” players but they are certainly the best “back court” defenders on the team.

@@jerryalexander8803 Ivey is only starting if they are trying to lose on purpose (again).

      July 27, 2024 at 7:55 am

@@jerryalexander8803 with Ausar or Ron on the floor with Cade, Simone, Tobias and Jalen the Pistons would be switching everything. On offense, they would be running a lot of high screens with Simone and Tobias spotting up on the perimeter while Ausar or Ron cut. Simple concepts.

I’m not even advocating for this line necessarily, just pointing out the obvious. Unless Jaden Ivey becomes a much better shooter then he might be awkward fit because he offers no upside on defense.
