Points that need to be made!

1 pick = should equal generational talent

Cades first game was exactly that a first game

    Stop comparing 2 different players

Green is a unique scorer with less holes to feel

Cade is an all around guy that’s rough on the edges but obviously has that distinctiveness about him- Well rounded guys typically go first ……. Lamelo, John Wall, Magic

Jalen will most likely average more points he was the better scorer in high school and as some have clearly forgotten already has nba experience

And unlikely but honestly Cade could very well not be one of the best players out of this draft class considering the other top picks and their roles:

Ex Jalen Suggs – Magic Scottie Barnes- Raptors Isaiah Mobley- Cavaliers

The worst that could honestly happen with Cade IMO is an Andrew Wiggins esque career as far as view of player, stats, and overall play consistency.

Firstly, I’m a Knicks fan so I don’t have to worry about either of them. They ain’t making the playoffs. Secondly, they both scored a good amount of points. Thirdly, it’s Summer League. What happens here is inconsequential. Fourthly, can we stop saying that one is going to be worse than the other and just be happy that they’re here in the moment? They’re rookies for Pete’s sake!

  30. RudySKC

    August 11, 2021 at 11:23 am

Borh had great nights and flashed their potential. Tho cades assist totals were down, he had more command over the offense from the eye test alone and should have had abt 8 assists if teammates made at least 80% of the wide open looks he got them, while Jalen should have had 5 assists. Jalen drew a lot more free throws and Cade played better much defense. Stats wise, I’d give the edge to Jalen, but based on the eye test, I’d give the edge to Cade on a better game

    • Mark Sawyer

      August 11, 2021 at 1:38 pm

Expecting 80% conversion on those passes is inappropriate. If Cade had more “control” over the offense, then his -7 is kinda revealing. Jalen let the game come to him and was +18, playing with elite twitch and confidence pretty much the entire game, with some defensive lapses

    • RudySKC

      August 11, 2021 at 5:32 pm

@Mark Sawyer umm no it’s not cuz I just counted the wide open ones. When Jalen passed to someone wide open, they had a 100% conversion rate so I was just trynna be generous. Plus, +- doesn’t rlly show command over an offense since everyone pretty much on the pistons had a negative plus minus cuz the team was losing after their initial lead. Like I said, Cade passed the eye test in terms of leading the offense compared to Jalen. People gotta make shots so it won’t show up in the stats. Yes, a good 3 point percentage is 40%, but it’s wide open and a lot of them were set up near the rim for open layups. Doesn’t mean that Jalen didn’t have a better night statistically. He is ahead of Cade at this point because of his experience in the g league. The main difference is u see that Jalen is a lot better at drawing fouls which is something that very few rookies have. I think it was pretty much even the whole night. Neither outplayed the other necessarily.

Cade is the more complete player, but Green has young Kobe/T Mac explosiveness. It’s a close call imo

    • Mark Sawyer

      August 11, 2021 at 1:31 pm

TMac comparison on Green is perfect. I mean, Green has so much twitch and confidence, there isn’t a spot on the floor he can’t get to, not a shot he can’t make…whereas Cade needs mismatches and body contortions (ugly spin moves) to get separation…Cade looks good keeping his head up on the fast break, Magic-style…TMac vs Magic comparison is actually kind of appropriate?

Between the duel of #1 and #2 the winner was #16

  38. Mark Sawyer

    August 11, 2021 at 2:12 pm

I’m a Pistons fan, so I hope Cade reaches his Grant Hill-like potential. My problem is that the Pistons management and fan base never really looked at Green for #1, and ignored all the evidence that Green is basically TMac 2.0. The tape showed all of this pre-draft, the obvious advantage Green has in twitch and explosiveness, and yet every time I got into a Detroit conversation pre-draft, my attempts to push for Green were shouted down. Where did this consensus come from? At best, Cade and Green are equals, but 100% of the pre-draft hype was around Cade. Why? My suspicions are that the hype reflected the NBA’s desire for Green to go to Houston (white fan base) and Cade to Detroit (black fan base)….

    • RegalSir

      August 11, 2021 at 2:29 pm

As a Rockets fan, I agree with your points up until you’re reasoning for why Cade was seen as the consensus #1 pick. That was said the entire college basketball year before we knew who had the 1st and 2nd pick. So you’re reasoning is very off. Secondly, have you actually been to Houston and seen our fanbase?? Houston is the most (#1) diverse city in the US. Along with having one of the largest Chinese (Asian) fanbases in the world. Houston is NOT mostly White. I’m not sure where you got that information from. I’m not White either.

    • RegalSir

      August 11, 2021 at 2:31 pm

Also, they are both half black with Cade’s mom being White and Jalen’s mom being Filipino. Why would they choose Cade to go to Detroit when they’re both half black?? You’re reasoning really confuses me the more I think about it.
