Is JJ saying that the MVP is reserved for star players?

Caleb played a really solid 45 minutes when they held a high powered offense to 80 points in game 7. Hard to say who deserves the mvp but Jimmy’s efficient clutch offense and leadership makes him the man.

jimmy affected the game in more ways than caleb but the lows with jimmy were a lot lower than caleb in this series..i think jimmy deserved it but caleb’s ridiculous efficiency and his consistency makes a good argument for him to win but not quite good enough to eclipse jimmy’s overall impact and play this series

It is surprising to see commentators say that Martin should have gotten the MVP. The majority of voters saw what I saw. It isn’t even a statistical thing, except maybe Martin was more efficient. But that’s only because stopping Butler was the main focus of the Celtics defense. Let’s build a team around Martin and see how that goes.

I would love to keep Jaylen Brown but he is not worth the supermax and I doubt he would take less than the supermax. I also don’t think he is particularly close to Boston. He definitely wants to be involved in social activism (nothing wrong with that at all) but Boston fans traditionally do not view that particularly favorably. I forsee a sign-and-trade, hopefully for an elite point guard.

Jimmy give his guys the motivation to play free, he doesn’t even want to take the most shots in a game. That’s what makes him a mvp of the ECF. Shout out to K.Martin but without Jimmy none of this is possible.

No one in the Heat cares about that. Winning is all that matters.

Do you think Miami wins this series if Butler isn’t there ? come on

Jimmy Buttler destroys the Bucks then heads down to NYC and beat them up good with a Sore ankle. Then game 1 vs Celtics gets 35-5-7, game 2) 27-8-6 Sends Grant Williams to the bench, game 3) 16-8-6 not that great but nearly a triple-double, game 4) 29-9-5, game 5) didn’t play that great but had nearly a triple-double again, game 6) gives you 24-11-8 and Martin played well had 21-15 RB and game 7 Jimmy had 28-7-6. So how on earth does Caleb Martin even get one vote away from winning the conference’s finals MVP?? It is so absurd it blows my mind away. Jimmy absolutely played way better than Caleb Martin mind you Caleb played well here and there and was probably the 2nd best player after Jimmy. And even some of the shots that he took were because of Jimmy’s assists. Stephen A and all the other voters done lost their minds, JJ should’ve called them out when he had his chance but probably didn’t want drama to fold in.

Caleb Martin should have won the award, but Butler got it because of reputation. Martin was consistent the entire series and was more efficient.

Jimmy didn’t deserve that award at all. His shooting in all 7 games were terrible. Caleb was clearly the better player and shooter in this series, out both there stats side by side

The Celtics played like as if they were ready to go home, and that is exactly where they are headed to, thier energy was horrible and the defense was super horrible,

People have really short memories, the Heat were up 3 games to 0 because of Butlers play. When Jimmy had three bad games those are the ones the Celtics won. Game 7 Jimmy plays well again they win. Isnt that what an MVP mean.

That’s like saying Kyrie Irving deserved finals MVP over LeBron James when they were both equally impressive that series and absolutely unstoppable
There should be a co-finals mvp forsure
But I don’t think there should be an eastern or western conference finals mvp. I don’t like the idea rewarding a person for almost winning it all and neither does Jimmy Butler
