Change the name to the Tennessee Grizzlies, move them to Nashville, schedule some regular season games in Memphis each year to keep the fan base as large and engaged as possible.
Yeah Tennessee is not a two team state. The Grizzlies should definitely just move there IF Nashville is an option or if the NBA thinks that’s a more glamorous market
@Benzy-d3u😂😂did u not read my comment or did u just not comprehend it. I said the only way nashville gets a team is if they take the memphis grizzlies.😂😂 also u talking about the state doesnt mean anything when the only thing that matters is the city. Do u not know how a vast majority of pro sports teams get there money. Its from the city they are in.
@thelastquincy1457 Menphis and Nashville are both poor cities, you fu*k. Did you study economics in school? Am I going too fast for you? How old are you?? STFU
@Benzy-d3uoh sure they could. Tampa is an enormous city and on the coast. They support the NFL, MLB and NHL already. Jacksonville has over 1.8 million people and only has an NFL team so far. So many pro athletes come from Florida. 100% could support another NBA team. California has 4 teams
@bigc2626 Tampa is 90 miles from Orlando. Too close competition wise. The Tampa Bay MLB team has struggled financially for years!! It would be a tough sell for an NBA team.
Tennessee is one of the poorest states in the USA! How can they support two NBA teams?? No way. If the Grizzlies move to Nashville, then that makes sense.
The Grizzlies lease at the FedEx Forum ends at the end of the 2028-29 season. The team is currently in talks with the city for a new lease, but the team is requiring the city of Memphis to invest nearly $600 million at a minimum in renovations to the arena, and the city doesn’t have that kind of capital to invest in that type of arena renovation project.
Say hello to Nashville. The Predators are getting ready to begin on a 3-year, $750 million-$1 billion PRIVATELY FUNDED renovation of Bridgestone arena. This is set to be completed during the offseasons of the NHL schedule, and estimated to be done by 2029.
The timing lines up. If the Grizzlies are going to move to the eastern conference, moving them closer to the conference competition would make a whole lot of sense.
I also know that the WNBA (if they ever get their act together) are potentially looking at another round of expansion in that 2029-30 timeframe, and Nashville was a serious contender to win one of those expansion slots this last time.
Also — completely different note, there is serious speculation that the PWSL (women’s soccer) will be doing another expansion round within the next few years, and Nashville is at the top of that list as well
We also know that Nashville is also essentially a lock as an MLB expansion city as well
Yes, because off all the states out there that needs two teams, the first one I think of is Tennessee. I feel like some times they act stupid on purpose for views.🙄

Here is where Nashville can come into play.
The Grizzlies lease at the FedEx Forum ends at the end of the 2028-29 season.
