You can’t even say players had a bad game anymore they will respond and tell you you don’t know basketball

That’s not even true btw. What players have an issue with is the over-sensationalised and over the top bashing that comes with the critique of the game. Questioning their heart, toughness, desire. That’s their gripe

@Kip Smithers What is being said about Durant is the cold hard truth. And he can’t handle it. He joined a Championship team who also had a 70+ win season and beat him, and that 100% should be taken into consideration when speaking on his legacy. It is one of the most heartless moves in NBA history that a player of his level has ever done.

@Jamhold88 what stings even more is that he knew the backlash he would receive but from a basketball perspective he said he wanted to be on a team w/ shooters, and what better team than the warriors? Not condoning his decision, it’s pretty weak. But in reality, who wouldn’t want to join the best shooting backcourt ever?

Like Skip saying that Steph went 0-9 from 3 in game 5. He’s literally spreading his own narrative about Steph because he only talks about Steph’s bad games. How can I respect such media?

New media = ex & current players with knowledge of the game who don’t spew “hot takes” for ratings

That bull loool new media is the exact same as the old one. They’re all running their mouths about other players and playing petty games. Only difference is one has a journalism degree and the other has experience playing in the league. That’s it.

New media is bad for basketball. Media role belongs to former players, fans, and journalists. Not current players. These current players who are getting paid hundreds of millions of dollars want to take jobs and dreams away from regular ppl, and retired players. Ofc the general public would rather listen to current players on their takes. But at this cost? So if players start taking control of the media narratives, the game itself won’t grow. And eventually ppl will care less. All because these current players can’t take criticism from ppl’s opinions.

Stop being so self absorbed and caring what others think of you. End of story.

    Unpopular opinion:
I like that the players have the ability to respond to the talking heads in the same (disingenuous) manner that the media stalwarts have always been able to. I grew up with columnists, beat writers and people who never dribbled or caught a pass professionally controlling the narrative. I’m good with the chaos

I just think they have their own platforms to say what players have thought and said among themselves for years.

    Kd doesn’t care

    • TheOpticNerve

      June 21, 2022 at 9:10 pm

KD cares. He cares WAY too much which is the problem. He needs to stop tweeting back at critics about his feelings and just show everyone by winning a championship without the Warriors, otherwise he just looks childish.

Twitter says otherwise KD responds to fans imagine LeBron Steph or Giannis doing that everytime someone has an opinion about their game

All I want to say is Draymond became the luckiest man on the Earth when he got drafted on a team with the top two best three-point shooters of finals history ,that is all

      June 22, 2022 at 5:59 am

Well i can say the same to all players in Warriors, because they’re lucky to get to team with good development talent. We can say that GSW make the best move from their early dinasty to the bottom for 2 years and now back on top. their draft, trade and rotation G League to invest in their core player by paying luxury tax they’re a great organization.

It sounds as though the media is super sensitive responding to everything. You guys say whatever and the expectation is to suck it up. We’ll know the media need to suck it up and stop whining.

These guys take the battle rapper approach. And if you say something to them that is within the realms of Truth they lash out and pretend to be hated and play this victim. Not only New Media but just the actual players all right. For instance KD’s response. I love KD and his game. But his response to Charles Barkley was a complete rap response. I got more money than you so you should shut up. What is that? The reason the responses are becoming what they are is because at some point they’re realizing that these guys are telling the truth. Granite this New Media they do have an insight that guys like Stephen A Smith and guys who have never played the game have because they tell it from their point of view. But it doesn’t negate the fact that people can see what they see! Player or no player if you were blessed with sight when You close your eyes you can’t see what’s going on and when you open them you can see what’s going on

I’m not sure why you playing in front of the world if you make people aren’t going to have an opinion of you! And you want to tell people what they should think about you. Playing in front of the world as well as those beat riders and reporters is what gets you paid. I would love to see them just go prove it on the court. And continue giving your opinion. If you are New Media, don’t worry about what everybody else is saying as long as people continue to watch your content and support you who cares what they say you don’t have to respond to everyone who says something about you that you disagree with. Give us the X’s and O’s and tell us why you may have reacted in certain ways according to certain plays. That’s what I would like to see rather than creating beefs because you don’t like someone’s opinion

When you become successful J.J. all that you’re complaining about comes with it. If you don’t want to be criticized then, find something else to do. Just think the Lord, you are playing a game that many tried to do and didn’t make it because they were disliked. “It’s not about Athletic ability, it’s about likeability.”
