It’s not a good deal when the player is pro-bound.
18 yr old Americans can go to Australia as an option.

@keef davis you must not know what is made in Australia. It’s 4 or5 times the amount in the in the Gleague. Plus you get a college fund. How is that not a good deal. You sound like an idiot.

I have watched the NCAA take advantage of these college kids for years with there bull s*** rules designed to control these young athletes and to make money off of them without giving the kids a penny!I’m glad that they’re sending a loud and clear message to the NCAA!

High school players used to be able to come directly to the NBA. College basketball didn’t suffer but the NBA did. That’s why they changed the rule. This is not putting any pressure on the NCAA. In fact, the games and rivalries were better with players staying 3-4 years as opposed to one and done’s.

Enough NCAA. Universities are for education. Let athletes take their own path.

Oh how I hate so much when they always say these college students are kids when they want to scold them or tell them what they want them to do but when they get in trouble or they say something out of line that they don’t like you have to treat them like adults because it’s the opposite of what you want them doing no longer kids now sounds kind of funny doesn’t it. 💤💤💤

Go to NCAA and get nothing. Go to gleague get paid and if you’re a bust you have some money to go to college later without the distraction of basketball

The new G League program includes a 4 year scholarship after a three year period. So the players don’t even have to use their own money for school

ESPN forgets about Jalen lecque of the phx suns who last year declared for the draft after coming out of high school. Then he pulled out of the draft and suns gave him a contract to play with the g league

      April 29, 2020 at 9:32 pm

He was draft eligible due to his age and prep schooling. Anfernee Simons did that too. That’s not a new route.

I think Pierce misspoke. It was the D League when he was in the NBA

I’m totally ok with this, I will take college students showing an interest in completing degrees over 5 star one and dones any day. A win-win situation, good for the G league, good for the NCAA. It’s not like the NBA pays the NCAA, they do not. The hype over NBA scouting is not the major draw of college fans, winning teams attract fans.

LOL the Gatorade League; I guess Adam Silver didn’t want to subsidize TWO leagues so he sold the name to Gatorade and now its called the G League to sound more ghetto. Whats next? Selling the NBA name to Nike. Might as well.

The g league is a dead league that nobody cares about and nobody watches. The NBA is not going to waste millions on a league that nobody watches. It’s called return on investment. There is none with the g league.
