The ref did nothing wrong. That’s how you handle that situation. The ref dont care what rnd it is how much time is left none of that. He is supposed to count knock downs and see if the fighter can continue, the fighter couldnt he was in bad shape. It’s that easy.
I love these ANALYSTS together. BUT for the PERFECT PANEL, Paulie Malignaggi needs to replace Todd Grisham (who’s never been a professional boxer); with Tim, Shawn, and Terence, the panel would be PERFECT.
The ref primary goal is the health and well being of the fighters. Secondary a fair fight. That was a good stoppage. I get that bud and tim are gladiators. But that man was inches away from death. And the rule is protect yourself at all times, not until the bell rings.
The guy was already out of it. The punch landed right before the bell ended. He went down with the bing bing bing. The ref made the right decision, plus it was more exciting 😂
(THE RIGHT MAN WON FOR SURE) BUT say for example, we’re in the fifth round and the bell rings, but as the bell rings at the end of the fifth round I get hit with a shot after the bell rings, does that shot count? If not, and it doesn’t count, I agree with Terence Crawford but hey 🤷🏿♂️
This is the exact reason why boxing turns me off nowadays. I spent over ten years in boxing and the politics of the sport/ referees discretion makes boxing unserious & untrustworthy.
The issue is us continuing to pretend Thomas Taylor isn’t a blatant corrupt referee. He may be “good” at the job itself, but he continues to personally interfere in the bout vi la sketchy stoppages, point taking, and threatening. He is not legit.
