Who will play the Lakers in the first round? Who should they want to play? | The Jump

Published

on

With six weeks left in the 2019-20 NBA regular season, Rachel Nichols runs down the tasty storylines, including a possible Miami Heat vs. Philadelphia 76ers “Jimmy Butler Bowl” in the opening round, a rematch between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Paul George’s LA Clippers, and a battle between the Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers for the final playoff spot and the chance to face the Los Angeles Lakers. Nichols is then (3:38) joined by Ramona Shelburne and Clinton Yates to discuss whom LeBron James and Anthony Davis should want to face in the first round of the 2020 NBA playoffs, with Ja Morant’s Grizzlies and Zion Williamson’s Pelicans seemingly in the best position.

He played the easier part of the schedule and the Pelicans were already coming off a good month of basketball before Zion came

Everyone who thinks the Pelicans are better then the Grizz obviously don’t know the game of basketball!! It takes more then talent to win. Ja is the better player all around. He makes his teammates better and he is LEADING the team like a vet! Zion is just playing like a extremely talented rookie with a green light lead by a all star PG.

I would like to see Lakers beating Grizzlies and Pelicans because it was strange to see lebron not playing the same as against Zion his legacy threat. Zion not getting to playoff really makes Roy difficult and takes away from who had a better rookie season between lebron and zion. I think lebron was just protecting his legacy imho. They should have beaten Grizzlies night before and stay out of conspiracy theories.
Ja is a john wall type while Zion is a landscape change. Roy or not.

1:51 “… what has become a 4-team race” for the 8th seed in the West: and then you named the Spurs but not the Blazers, even though at this very moment the Blazers are actually half a game ahead of the Spurs? Seriously, why a 4-team race instead of a 5-team race?

Look, anything can happen… but with around 25 games left, the money is on Memphis to take the 8th seed with a 3-game lead over the other 4 teams in the hunt. The team with the 3-game lead losing that 3-game lead within 25 games isn’t the way it usually goes.

Did Portland Disappear off of the map? They are 9th, 3.5 games behind, Lillard gets back tonight against Wizards, they have only 7 out of 20 games against + .500 teams, Memphis has 12 games left against +.500 teams, and 4 of the remaining 7 are against Pelicans and Blazers. Pelicans schedule also similar to Blazers, but I think Blazers have the edge.

Blazers are a serious threat to Lakers, We know how “hot Reg Season” Lillard can be, but if we get “hot playoff Lillard”, This could be one of the biggest upsets in some time.

Again the NBA is so bias, we need some other platform that has real people opinion. How is that they say that it will be a better game for viewers to see the Lakers against the Pelicans. The team that has challenged the Lakers and put up a better fight is the Grizzlies. Ja Morant so far is the most athletic and go getter Rookie with that heart of a killer. I hope Ja Morant prove them wrong and then tell them off.

My mistake I was not referring to the NBA but all the ESPN Analyst. They all talk nonsense most of the time.
