I’m glad at least they all had 3 no brainers with LBJ, KD and Curry.

Kenny Smith should name Andrew Bogut as his starting center so that he can let him play just 10 minutes and then go to a death lineup with Curry, Harden, and Westbrook.

They may have a point about Kawhi coming in too late for this all-decade team, but on the other hand, he DID win a Finals MVP in the first half of the decade AND win a Finals MVP in the 2nd half of the decade.

The trouble is that it is OFTEN the case that players peak in between the middle of one decade and the middle of the next, or even PLAY between the middle of one decade and the middle of the next, and yet are dominant when they’re playing. Michael Jordan is considered 1st Team All-1980s by most people, but he didn’t play until 1984-85 and missed most of 1985-86. Yeah, I know, he’s the GOAT so maybe the rules don’t apply to him, but I think you have to make a decision about whether playing the whole decade or being the better player is more important for the list. If you have to have 3 front-court players, I’m picking AD after LeBron and KD.

Derrick Rose, Kobe, Tim Duncan, Paul Pierce, KG

@Ailsa Ni During the decade, let’s go by 1st team All NBA selections: Kobe 4, AD 3, Duncan 1, Rose 1, Pierce 0, KG 0. Indeed, neither Pierce nor KG ever even made a THIRD TEAM during this decade. So… I’ll put Kobe in the mix for the top 5 of the decade, but AD beats Duncan for THIS decade, and Rose is well behind Kobe, Steph, Russ, and Harden for THIS decade. Duncan is of course top 5 for the PREVIOUS decade, as is KG. Pierce was never top 5, and Rose only for a single year, but not for a decade.

Pau Gasol? He was 3x either 2nd or 3rd Team All NBA during the decade. Meanwhile, AD was 3x 1st Team All NBA during the decade.

Z-Bo and Aldridge are probably the two best centers this decade when looking at longevity. If you consider Duncan then he’s there too, but he retired in 16 so not great on that front. There haven’t been many good true centers, and while Embiid might’ve had a shot (considering he was drafted in 2014), his two years of redshirting really disqualifies him. Drummond and Joakim could be considered too.
