The Nuggets are a team that always have a good record but will never reach the finals.

Perk said since 1990, 3 guys have won the MVP without finishing in the top 10 in scoring – Nash, Nowitzki and Jokic. True with Nash. Nowitzki finished 11th in 2006-7. Jokic finished 6th last year and 10th the year before. He also conveniently left off the guy who plays most similarly to Jokic – Magic Johnson who won 2 of his three MVPs without finishing in the top 10 in scoring. That’s why he said since 1990. Magic won his MVPs in 1986, 88 and 89.

He’s not stat padding every game, but in games that the nuggets are supposed to win, its pretty clear that Jokic is statpadding. I will say tho its not getting in the way of him delivering wins so i have no problem.

Even if he is stat padding, that doesn’t change the result. His team is #1 largely because of him, and he’s playing better than everyone else in the league.

Perk you will need some pads when the Jokić brothers show up.

This is a different scenario you can maybe make the case for Russel, when Russ was doing it they were still losing. Now you say the Joker is, but their team has the highest record by a lot

      March 1, 2023 at 6:53 pm

No they weren’t. When he was doing it in OKC, they had like like over an 85% win percentage. When he started balling in Washington and recording triple doubles, he led them to the playoffs and won Eastern Conference player of the month. Overall, he has 73% win percentage when posting a triple double. I just don’t get the hate. Y’all praise Jokic, but knock Westbrook.

The disgusting thing about Perkins’ take is that he offers no evidence for it at all but by saying it attaches a grotesquely unfair label to Jokic. His only evidence is ‘I’ve been in locker rooms, I’ve been with Jason Kidd, etc. I know it happens.’ That’s it. His only other evidence is that Jokic sometimes takes few shots early in games–which he’s done since his rookie year. For those of us who watch him every night it can be frustrating that he’s not more aggressive to score, but he always does it to involve team mates. That’s who he is. Perkins is an loud clown that should be ashamed.

Perkins take on Jokic stat padding is stupid but plenty of NBA talking heads say stupid things. I’m far more concerned about his take on the MVP ‘goal posts’ being moved for Jokic, Nowitzki and Nash. It’s an obviously racist take that Perkins knows is false. His idiotic ‘argument’ is that ‘since 1990’ all MVP’s have finished in the top ten of scoring except for the white players. That’s just straightforwardly false. Jokic finished 6th last year and 10th the year before. The producers at ESPN had to know what Perkins was saying was simply false. Magic won multiple MVP’s without being a top ten scorer. My main concern is that ESPN allowed this kind of straightforward racialist take on their flag ship NBA show. Perkins should be suspended.

Can we all just admit that this is simply because Jokic is white. Perk is hatin because of that

Perkins talking about stat padding yet he cheerleads for lebron all the time (the greatest stat manipulator)

Jokic is generational and historical talent! One of a kind player and personality with no ego. ESPN and others should appreciate such a human being and player…

Even though perk is right about jokic being white and privileged but he shouldn’t attack Jokic cause he doesn’t bother nobody

  19. C Leigh

    March 2, 2023 at 12:44 pm

Perkins is clearly biased against Jokic and should not be commenting on NBA at all. Perkins posted a social media comment stating Jokic was awarded MVP only because he is Caucasian. That is slander and biased. ESPN should pull Perkins- they did it to Rachel Nichols for less. Double standard.

Perk hasn’t ever been in Nuggets locker room. Not that it matters but Jokic def doesn’t pad his stats. I wish he did! Look up the Sambor Double before you run your mouth, Perk. Garbage take….
